Can't find Tony Stark's sunglasses from Iron Man 3

Apologies for the non-eyewear related post!!

I decided to make a "Mark 2" RDJ necklace thingy...

View attachment 1561736 View attachment 1561737

My earlier half-a***d first "Mark 1" attempt was slapped together using a metal washer!! (p.218) LOL...

View attachment 1561738

Then, as the "Mark 2" actually turned out okay, I decided to make a bunch of them in more colors, so I can match them with various outfits...(BTW the pendants are the same on each side)...

From what I can gather, I think they are meant for good luck and wealth protection.

Maybe if I wear all of them together I'll find a pair of red Bromleys.

They don't come with instructions, lol, so maybe I have to do some sort of incantation or mystic ritual to get them to work.

I also decided to go all Health & Safety and wisely made them all with these snap safety fasteners...

...to avoid being inadvertently garrotted, as there's nothing lucky about that.
Love this! Was looking to find something similar. Seems simple enough to make.
Would you be willing to share material sources?

Cheers!

Sure, any time mate!!:D

Through rigorous home lab testing, focus groups and trial and error, I found the best source materials and procedure to be:

Main 4 Ingredients: (All sourced from ebay)

1: A 50mm diameter (not 30mm or 40mm) "donut" pendant stone (just the right size IMO).
20220414_230647.jpg
You really don't want the dimensions of your necklace to be too big, unless you dig the attention...
20220415_002111.jpg

2: 24mm or 25mm "Feng Shui" lucky Chinese coins, there are lots of varying designs/symbols out there too. They are cheap enough, but I bought in bulk to save $$...
20220414_230020.jpg

3: 110cm long, 5mm wide "round" color shoelaces (cut to desired length)...
20220414_230635.jpg

4: Safety lanyard pop barrel connectors...
20220414_230613.jpg

Method:
I stuck 2x 25mm Chinese coins onto either side of a 50mm pendant stone using 2 part epoxy, but I suppose Superglue will do, if you don't play piano and don't mind joining most of your fingers together.
Bear in mind the pendant stones are smooth and shiny and have no "key" for glue to get a good hold.

Then cut the color 5mm wide round shoelaces to the desired length of where you want the pendant to hang, thread the safety connectors onto the cut shoelace ends and tie a knot on each end.
I used a lighter to melt and seal the knot ends so that the knots fit inside of the safety connectors, allowing both connector ends to freely snap together.

Thread the shoelace "loop end" through the square coin hole and back into itself.

Results:
Voila!!
D.I.Y RDJ necklace luck thingy!!;)

Conclusion:
Luck activation is thus far unsuccessful using incantations/rituals, so I'm open to any suggestions of how to get these things to work to their full potential.

20220414_235422.jpg

Conclusion (additional):
Tried and tested top safety tip:
Don't wear them whilst out jogging, or suffer pendulum effect injuries.

Hope this helps dude!! :D

This is great! I managed to figure out they are called stone donuts before seeing your response and finally started finding results. LOL
I didn't realize they are as big as 50mm... I was looking at the 40mm once. Now I'll have to re-evaluate.

I was also able to find the coins... in minimum lots of 50... I guess I'll have a few extra lying around.

Thanks again for all the help!
Cheers
Steven

You're more than welcome man, glad I could help.:D

Tom Ford...This took some hunting! The various movie frames are highest priority but of course hardest to find sometimes... these were in Canada. I was bummed at missing the ones in England a few weeks ago but these were $100 less!

Funnily enough they seem to already have custom brown gradients installed rather than factory green, just too dark, unfortunately. In fact they are darker than the brown on the tortoise frames.

On the subject of polishing up wear and cloudiness... I got this pair of Oliver Peoples very cheaply because of the unsightly surface... a few sessions with Plast-X and it is greatly improved.

From a recent post...

20220419_100853.jpg 20220419_085018.jpg

I reckon these are Caddis Eye Appliances "Mister Cartoon" anti-blue light reading glasses (or progressives) in gloss black 56□16 145...

20220419_091051.jpg
20220419_091106.jpg
20220421_075107.jpg

They are a "limited release" collab frame between Caddis and world renowned tattoo and airbrush artist Mister Cartoon.

I searched around most of the usual suspects in designer frames the last times these were worn...

20220420_082641.jpg 20220422_084652.jpg 20220420_162339.jpg 20220420_162403.jpg 20220423_080441.jpg 20220419_100921.jpg 20220420_082742.jpg

...But drew a complete blank as to what they were.

Since seeing them again on this latest post, it gave me new incentive to have a search around again.
The very noticeable anti-blue light coating on the lenses led my searches down the "anti-blue light readers" route and I stumbled across the Caddis readers frame.

Seemingly, they are only available in gloss black and this recently released cobalt blue...
20220422_085207.jpg

The varying strength readers are available from selected retailers, but if ordered direct from Caddis themselves, more lens options are available. For the Mister Cartoon frame, Caddis also do RX sunglass lenses, sun readers, progressives and "made-to-order" tinted lenses, like these...

20220420_100932.jpg 20220420_100916.jpg 20220420_095940.jpg

Right after ID'ing the frames, I ordered some gloss black anti-blue light 2.00 readers (I somehow got a better deal with the 2.00), these reading lenses will be of great use later on down the road.
My main priority was to just acquire the limited release Mister Cartoon black gloss frame.

I love the oversize rectangle look of these frames.
I'll probably put in custom standard 0.00 anti-blue light lenses or just custom very light blue tints.

My Mister Cartoon are currently en route.;)(y)

I've also ID'ed these from an even more recent live interview post (an easy ID now that I'm aware of the Caddis brand)...

They are Caddis Root Cause Analysis blue light blocking reading glasses in gloss black 56□17 145... ;)

The top of the frame is engraved with "Willie" and "Waylon" in Morse code.

Been trying to ID these...

This found image wasn't clear enough, but I found out were it's from and got some better images...

From this video...

To complete a hat-trick, I believe I've just ID'ed another related frame...

Caddis Eye Appliances Navin in burnt tortoise 51□20 145...

I'd previously never heard of the Caddis brand, then three come along all at once!! o_O

Nice work!
I am plodding along working on the older stuff still... got Canals in brushed gold/matte espresso. Am I going to find every color they made before I find gunmetal? MAYBE!

Unfortunately no!!:(
If there were 500 they went FAST.
Looks all sold out here...

I suppose it had to happen, looks like reproductions are being made already, but with just the footprint on the front...

I think they sold almost immediately.

Not surprising really as the price was also very low, I had expected it to be quite high so that was a nice to see.

I don't know if they're planning on producing more but you can leave your email address to be contacted in the event of another batch being produced.

I might look into the reproductions as I do like the quirky nature of the actual design on the t-shirt although clearly an original would be much more preferable

Good idea(y), I think I'll leave my email on the off chance more stock comes in.

There's bound to be some turn up on eBay at three times the price.

So both the glasses and t-shirt are limited edition, typical!! o_O
20220423_084047.jpg
Leaving just the baseball cap, which is probably limited edition too!!

Just for a bit of fun and taking a tiny break from some dedicated and serious frame collecting...

Kitty Halloween novelty glasses...

Bloody Mary novelty glasses...

Stars and Stripes novelty aviators, I really pulled out all the stops and spent a whole 3 bucks for some (close enough) matches followed by my now customary OTT photo shoot...Lol
20220422_124120.jpg

...Oh no!! - It looks like I've got a whole separate "novelty glasses" sub-collection beginning to gain some totally unwanted momentum...

Anyway, back to serious eyewear collector matters...(y)

I mentioned these in an earlier post...
20220415_143409.jpg 20220415_143501.jpg 20220415_143442.jpg

After struggling to find vintage 5701 in this specific colorway, (I think) I've just successfully secured a pair in France!! :D

In finding this pair, I realized that they are in fact Carrera 86 (in colorway QQSIC) 63□15 135...
20220415_143325.jpg
20220415_152202.jpg

A short bit of "confusion led" research followed with finding that the Carrera 86 are aka the Carrera Boeing 5701.

The Carrera 86 are a special limited edition (Lol, not again!!), faithful reproduction from Carrera's own frame archives of the 80's iconic classic Carrera Boeing 5701.

These Carrera's are building up quite a bit!!

I've got my fingers crossed in anticipation of the arrival of my new Carrera 86's.

New O'Malleys.. I was lucky enough to be the only bidder... what do you think- should they get the classic pink lens?
