Hope that a Mod will see this and can help with this
I need help with this all of my computer network settings are automatic configured using DHCP
I bought a new Apple iMac back in March 08 when I hooked it up to my DSL connection everything worked with no problems logging into the RPF or any other Sci Fi based forum.
Now all of a sudden I cannot log onto the RPF with out changing my network settings over and over again to stay connected to the RPF.
And once I do get signed in, I am lucky if I can put up a post or goto a different section of the
RPF without changing my network settings. And this only happens when I log into the RPF home page no place else or any other forum
For example:
When I try to go from the props section to the Junkyard section or when I try to respond to a post the transfer from one page to the next stops so I have to change my network settings
then I get this message
You are not connected to the internet
Safari can’t open the page “http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=47574&page=18” because your computer isn’t connected to the Internet.
Then I change my network settings again and the page I was going to loads and I can continue
if I am lucky until the page stoops loading again
Please do not tell me to use a different browser I get the same message with Firefox
Once again this only happens with the RPF site and no other web site
Any body else here have a iMac with this problem
My friend who works for AT&T
AKA: The Evil Empire (The Death Star is in there Logo)
Came by today and I told him about my problem logging into the RPF
He told me that since AT&T has been working on their new digital U-Verse TV
and internet. They changed alot of their security protocalls for this new system which has been messing up alot of peoples computers not allowing them to log into
other web sites as well. So I can drop AT&T all together and get phone and DSL
from somebody else, or wait for AT&T to get my area wired for this u-verse
digital thing and put up with changing my network settings every time I want to
log onto the RPF. Or maybe somebody high up in the RPF has a fix for me.
