Can you clearcoat a wig??

Finishing off a project but would like to know if its possible to clear coat a wig? Wig has been slightly distressed so would like to know the best way of giving it some protection.

It really depends on the material. My advise for any synthetic wig with weathering/styling would be a matte finish hairspray, though, which will have no chance of unwanted side effects (like melting)

It would probably gonk up like when putting water on the wig. It would probably not end up looking good. Hair spray is probably the best to use, but even that may mess things up.

If you use something other than hairspray, consider doing small tests on a few strands before treating the whole thing. The solvent involved could melt or damage the hair material.
