Can someone fill me in on POTC coins please?

The Disney store coins really don't look too bad, especially when you put all 882 of them together in a display. :lol

Too bad MR just does not offer some bulk packs of say 25 to 50 coins at a cheaper bulk packaged price. They could save with the volume sale and less costly packaging and allow those that want to make a huge display to do so. I have about 40 of the MR coins and 200 of the Disney ones for a small chest display and it looks darn nice. I would love to get the metal ones though if they did bring them back on the market.

Seems the demand should be there to do so. Wonder if enough collectors put the bug in their ear of they would consider it.

FYI:

I was at my local mall in the Disney store and they still had the cheap coins, and plenty of 'em. Though, I only managed to get 18 in a bag for $4.50. I read someone fit 22!

I didn't buy all 882 coins until I was able to get 35 into a bag, and it took a good amount of time to work them all in. :lol

35 into a bag??? You sir are a God
Well I definitely pushed the limits of what constitutes "in" the bag. :lol

I was also fortunate to get a VERY understanding Disney Store manager that allowed me to fill just one bag for "reference" and then simply count out the other 847!

That was actually a lot of fun - each posting new records of how many coins they could fit!

M, your display is STILL (and always wll be) a pleasure to the eye!

Thank you sir, and now that it is finally finished, I really should get around to doing a flash presentation for this display like I did with the JP one.

Does anyone have any shots of the comparsion to a real coin then? Also, does anyone know if Disney still has the coins, all you can eat for $5? :lol :love

EDIT - Oh, just found Roboprop's shot of the MR and screen used ones...But my other question still stands, do they still stock the coins at Disney?

I just wanted to drop in and say that I bought 6 'cursed' coins from user 'glim999' and IMO these are the best looking ones I have seen in Metal.

I actualy JUST PM'ed him asking what POTC props he still had for sale. :lol Do you know who the maker is/was? (Or do you glim999?)

I'm on a POTC high...anyone know anyplace that's selling all the little "cheap" Master Relicas? I've got the key and a ring, but I want all the other stuff suddenly. :D

Last time I was in Disney last year I only found a coin that was one sided (the skull side). Can anyone provide a link where the 2 sided coins can be purchased from Disney?

I have a coin from the original screen used molds, made by the people that did them for the movie.

When I was in casting class in school I cast a couple in Sterling Silver for some friends. Took a full ounce of Silver! This one was oxidized to bring out the design

Here's the coins that were on display right after the first pirates came out, before MR or any were available.

Just thought I would add my new POTC addition. I have 300 aztec coins so far, but I got the chest from Neca and looks pretty cool.

Sorry to pop up this old thread. Just had a question or two about the "checkers" coin:

1. Is this from the three in one game set (checkers, chess and dice) that still can be found right now?
2. Are the dimensions of this coins correct or are the smaller / bigger than the screen used ones?

TomVDJ,

Yes the coins are from the chess, checkers, and dice game. They were an exclusive to Target. I found them last year after glim999 posted the comparison shot. The bay usually has these for silly money IMHO. If you look long enough you can find them. I even found them on craigslist pretty cheap. Best of luck.

glimm999 - can't seem to PM you. I'd be interested in you POTC trinkets if you are still letting them go.

Thanks for the info. Found a new set for $ 50. Are these coins the correct size?
