Now for something a little different... =)

Where I work, a post-secondary educational facility/hotel/conference centre, we are hosting an event all about matching of arts & technology. Check it out here: http://www.banffcentre.ca/programs/convergence/ And I've been told that if I dress up as a 'robot' I can attend for free even though the event is sold out!

As my G1 Transformers cartoon Megatron rig is still not put away pending repairs & touch-ups, I'd wear that: http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/y470/Martaxus/FullSizeRender_zps82b57d6c.jpg.

Other than needing a stool if I want to be able to sit, this shouldn't be complicated, but it is certainly a different venue than I'd ever have thought of. There will be a handful of performers at this event, but generally speaking I'll be the only one wandering around in costume (I think).

I can't think of a reason not to go as I'm proud of my rig and won't feel 'childish'; the arm & elbow engineering fits with the theme of the event. Also, other than next April's Calgary comic expo and maybe another Halloween event years from now, I can't think of when I'd otherwise wear it. I should put it to use?

I'm curious as to what thoughts people here have, but also what you think should be done to the costume to improve it. Here are some pics:

The most obvious thing is the paint job; it is acrylic spray paint onto cardboard & duct tape. I've yet to learn how to finish/seal surfaces before painting. Could anyone please advise the least fume-creating method I could do here? What else would you upgrade?

Thanks!
