Can any metal workers replicate this?

It's one half of a hinge assembly. It's stamped and welded with a threaded bit welded in the center. You can see in the picture, it's cracked all the way down the middle.

It's part of a rather old rifle who's main claim to fame was it's use in the original Terminator film. Given the age and rarity of the piece, I don't want to cause potential harm to the original part by attempting to repair it, I would like to have a reproduction made. Also, the original is drilled and tapped off center which makes the stock off center, which is probably why it's cracked in the first place, so I just want to replace the whole thing.

I can provide detailed measurements/plans if anyone thinks they can do it. I'd like to keep the price in the 2 digit range if at all possible.

Heck, I'd even be happy with a handful of flat blanks that I could try my hand at hammering into shape myself.

Any help at all is appreciated. :cool

Any good welder/fabricator would be able to repair this with no risk to the original part at all .. if i still worked in the fab shop i used to i would be able to reproduce it no probs but alas that ship has sailed

If you send me the dimensions and photos (front/back/top/side) I can make one for you. Probably $20-$30

Good deal. It will take a couple of days, I have one day off between now and the 26th and I will need to cut out a hammer form. I may also have to "fake" the nut. It looks like a rivet or flare nut that was slipping and got tacked in to place. I may have a hard time finding the same thing but I can tack a nut on one side and braze a shaped washer on the back side for the same appearance.

That little piece is a lot more complex than I thought. It's obviously lathed, I can see the tool marks looking at it, it has a shoulder on one side and is welded on the other and that's how it's held in place.

The kicker is, it's drilled and tapped at an angle on purpose, and I hadn't realised it before. The hole in the stock for the mounting screw is lower than the attachment on this part. It literally, by design, can't be centered. I honestly don't know how to properly measure the angle.

As for the sheet metal, I've got good pictures taken now, fairly clear and fairly large. Those are good to go. I've also got some measurements taken as well but, I'm really not happy with them. It's been awhile since high school drafting class. I really want to try and put something more comprehensive and a bit more accurate together.

Send me what you can and I will take a crack at it. I can send you what I come up with and see what you think. I don't really care about making money*, other than to cover costs, so I can knock something up and see what you think. If it looks close enough, then fine. If you want something closer you can send me your part so I can match it as close as possible. Some of it would have to be "faked" because your part is machine stamped and mine(or anybody doing a one off) would be made from a form so the edges would look a little different.

*I do want to make money doing this, but I have no problem helping someone out and it can start a reputation. :)
