I don't use ping pong balls for the heads, I use wooden balls (craft shops sell them or I get them online). I use 3.5cm diameter. I only use them because they go well with the wooden mannequins and they are a good surface to sculpt details onto. I think the originals might've used ping pong balls?

and then there’s times when it’s so realistic that it’s not puppets at all it’s just straight up the actual stanley unwin-
i’ll never understand why they put that shot of him in the intro, they literally filmed the shot with the puppet but just never used it
 
i’ve not made any progress on the doctor or that fire engine, but here’s something interesting i’ve just discovered.
there are two different windy millers! if i’m not mistaken, the second one was made specifically for shots where he’s riding his trike.
