Cabin In the Woods

boy, has Joss Whedon fallen since his glory days.

I think he is getting warmed up actually:)

Ok saw it yesterday and went in cold only watching the trailers. Oh hell yea!!! Wife walked out at the first sight of blood. More popcorn fo me. What was throwing me off was I could recognize Thor but he was smaller and younger????? Now I know why.

Questions below the spoiler tag.

Here are my questions....... Nobody died in the Japanese sacrifice. In fact, they 'cured' the ghost spirit. But that was considered a success. WTF? Secondly, who was the audience the corporate guys kept referring too? The slumbering evil gods or the other cells of the company conducting the sacrifices? It was filmed in 2009 so that explains the smaller younger Thor guy.

I thought the "audience" might be others around the world who know the "secret" and are watching a pay-per-view. Drew Goddard said Hemsworth landed the Thor role while filming this. He may have also landed the Red Dawn role then, too.

Nobody has mention that the blonde in the movie is a former Power Ranger?

The Japanese sacrifice wasn't considered a success, the Japanese schoolgirls we're all supposed to die. It was a complete failure, as were all the other country's sacrifices, which is why everyone was freaking out about it all coming down to America to pull through and successfully complete theirs. As for the "audience", I'm assuming they we're referring to a number of super-duper wealthy people who are in on the secret, and paying good money for the privilage of watching the sacrifices. Maybe they're the ones funding the project?

There ya go!!

:lol:lol:lol I had to actually test the darn thing first. And for the record It took me a few tries:lol

Aeonpulse,

OK that makes sense. In one scene, the tech says that Japan has a perfect success record. Then later on the other tech is screaming **** you at the Japanese live feed of the school girls singing a song and liberating the ghost. I was thinking "I thought they said Japan had a perfect record." But your explanation makes sense.

Perfect reason why Japanese schoolgirls should not be taught how to perform Shinto Exorcisms. Damn kids destroyed the world.

i seriously hope they dont attempt to make a sequel...
i hope this movie makes a TON of money, but it should be what it is, a really good movie, and NOT the start of a new chain of movies.... the ONLY thing i would have changed about it was having Cthulhu come out at the end instead of the arm.. THAT would have been a perfect ending.

I agree. I don't think the creators had any intent of this being a franchise. But if the studio smells more money to be made, they try it...ie The Matrix. Though I would like to see what was happening on the other screens.

Yeah, definitely doesn't need a sequel, or a prequel. There's just no way it could work. I too would like to see more of what was happening on the other country's screens. Maybe they'll include that in the special features on the DVD/Blu-ray release.

I always thought this quote was funny when the director was asked about a sequel and here is another shot of the whiteboard

Immediately after an early preview screening with fan Q&A, the first question Director Drew Goddard was asked was, "Will there be a sequel?" To which he responded, "Have you seen the ending to my movie?"

Also here is another shot of the whiteboard. Between this one and the other I posted you should be able to see them all that I had listed.

Anyone pick up the visual companion? I went to today but the local Barnes and Noble had to order it for me. I heard it has tons of pictures of the monsters and all the stuff in the basement. Also, I read what KEVIN was since it wasn't explained in the movie (written on the whiteboard).

Even though it's too late, please put stuff in spoiled tags like your link Rusty, give people a chance to not know anything about this movie.

When the unicorn showed up and then started stabbing the guy with it's horn, I was howling with laughter

I just assumed that "Kevin" was their version of "Jason", some kind of masked blade-wielding killer.

That question must have been asked in every preview screening Q&A. Someone asked it at the one I attended.

They could always come up with some way to make another one I'm sure, I'd love to see more of the monsters.

I thought that if they could get the same actors (probably not) they could film a bunch where the 'selection' was different in the cellar which led to different scenarios. A what if kind of thing.
