Burned out light saber

I'm guessing that's a phrase we don't hear to often!

I stupidly plugged the wrong powersupply into my generic Chinese Light Saber and burned it out. I'm sure it's possible to replace the electronics, but frankly, I would just like to refit it as a always on lamp for my computer classroom. Has anyone done this? Has any got a disassembly guide for this kind of product?
