Saw it last night. Good stuff all around. This is what a Transformers movie should be. Loved seeing all the familiar G1 characters. The music alone was worth it for all the 80s goodness feels. Loved all the easter eggs, too.

I hated the Bay films, and stopped watching them after the 1st one. But I took a leap of faith and went to see Bumblebee today, and was greatly rewarded. Love the story, the actors, and the effects. Hailee Steinfeld did an excellent job and brought the movie to a whole new level. Everything was handled very well and could lead into a soft reboot. I'm in for another!

PS - There is an a bonus scene after the director's credit, so don't bolt for the door.

Was that the weird science house where the bully blonde girl lived? Loved the movie.

I’m so pissed that Bumblebee finished 3rd at the box office this weekend. They finally make an awesome Transformers movie, but it does worse than all the Bay movies. After this I want to see them make another one with all the G1 Transformer designs. The first 5 mins of this was so awesome to see. I’d love a whole movie like that. I’m hoping it will pick up steam over Christmas. I’m hoping it will make lots of money so they will stick with this formula.

No that wasn’t Starscream. It should have been, because it was a good design for him. My son said he saw him in the Cybertron scenes at the beginning.

All 3 G1 seekers were in the opening Cybertron scenes. After Optimus saw Bumblee off to Earth I was hoping he'd say, "Now all we need is a little energon and a lot of luck.". That would have been so cool. Not entirely apropos, but still cool I think.

While I agree that would have been rad, there were still a ton of nods from the original Transformers animated movie. The Judd Nelson stuff, the intro, "You got the touch", I thought that was hilarious. I LOVED the designs, thats EXACTLY how the transformers should have looked. I desperately want this movie to make a ton of money because it was so good. The filmmakers need to know they did an amazing job. Even Prime's gun was right. Soundwave and Ravage!? So awesome. Im definitely seeing it again.

As I figured I would, I loved it. I'm a little biased though, as Bumblebee was always my favorite Transformer.

The "kid and their car" story really hit home for me. (In June '97 an abused '74 Camaro found me. I never went looking for it, the first time I saw it, it was in my driveway. 8 months later, my brother was killed. That car became the only bright spot in a world that was black. It's more a family member now than a car.) Anyway, there's a scene where the tears flowed a little.

Now, there was also a scene that I couldn't stop laughing at; Bumblebee "egging" the BMW....

I definitely want to see this again. Hope it has legs and does well overseas. I'd love it to branch off into it's own universe.

PantheraGem Sorry to hear about your brother - rest his soul.

So is that starscream in the film?

I read it was supposed to depict Blitzswing, which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.Blitzswing was a purple/desert coloured Mig-25 in the G1 series, not a red/grey/blue F-15 with yellow canopy, which is Starscream.
That's why I said earlier in this thread: at least get the colours right when you make a tribute movie...

Can’t complain too much about Blitzwing. They got so many of the other Transformers right. That first 5 mins was like being a kid again spotting them all.

So the jet transformer never gets called by name in the film!?

I was really hoping that was starscream

halliwax, No, he wasn’t named at all. He just comes out of nowhere and they fight.

Saw this Friday night, and thought it was overall very good. I really hope it does take off in a more familiar direction and slowly replaces/destroys/retcons the Bay movies and timeline.

Even though it seemed like a rehash of ‘07 TF, it didn’t “feel” like it. It did have a few things I didn’t like but it didn’t have the cringeworthy bits from the Bay movies.

Minus the dive part at the end. That was just stupid.

After where I saw the other films going (not even making it though #4 and completely dodging #5) I'd say a reboot is an understatement. It needed a defibrillator to bring it back from the dead inside I had been feeling toward the cinematic films.

I still have not yet seen Bumblebee, but really looking forward to when I get some time after hitting digital release.
