Bullwhip help needed

Finished a new leather whip for my Indiana Jones Halloween costume...I want this to be good, so can anyone recommend to me the proper kind of shellac for the whip? Any particular brand work best for giving a bullwhip that slick shine...and to help it hold out longer too? Thanks!
