OK two of you guys have said this now.
Are you guys accounting for the fact that there two separate widths of this blank area, and the Muren shot shows more of the narrow width, and my shots show more of the wider widths?
Spyderdan, great examination.
Rob, sorry, I did you a disservice. I measured from the equator up, as I could not find a consistent top down reference. I honestly did think that perhaps the circle was too small, but I wasn't sure and wrongly kept my mouth shut.
Even if you cannot fix it, without the real death star sitting next to it, no one would ever be able to tell.
However, I'm guessing that for you, close enough isn't good enough.
Repainting the top row is not the answer, aesthetically speaking.
Scraped or not, I'm drilling. Just to clarify, I don't mean drilling through the acrylic. What I mean by drilling is using the correctly sized micro-drill bit in a chuck that I spin with my fingers, just enough to go through the paint. This is fast and easy. I've done it a lot before going all the way through on the styrene ERTL model, and its not that bad. Frankly, I see it as easier (or no more difficult) than using a #11 blade tip. In fact, this process will ensure same-sized and shaped holes all across, with no (as mentioned above) slop. Folks have said this model may look "better" than the original - perhaps to some degree idealized. Drilling (as I've described) versus scraping will cater towards this.
...different size 'windows'???
At this scale we're suppose to be seeing different size Buildings!
I was told that those are meant to be the "Landing -Bays". Like where the Falcon was 'Tractor-Beamed'.One thing I noticed on those pics I sent ya Rob, the trench window holes are oblong
One thing I noticed on those pics I sent ya Rob, the trench window holes are oblong side to side whereas the majority of the rest of the surface windows are rounded. Just thought I'd bring that up..............I know how you like to add work to a project......LOL.
