Building a vacuum-forming machine

It looks like you are almost done. I have seen thos plans advertised and wondered what you get for your $125. Did it also include a wiring diagram for the oven? Is it going to be a calrod oven? Please post pics when you get to that point.

That is some sharp metal working there. Nice job all around

Thanks.
The plans come in a binder with tons of instructions, set up in chapters, well written, very well laid out. Comprehensive parts lists separated by trade (metal stock and cut list, wood cut list, plumbing/vacuum parts, electrical parts).
Several sheets of large color photos, several full-size blueprints, and a dozen or so scaled drawings.
Lots of suggestions on sourcing parts.

All three sizes of machine (2'x2', 2'x3', 2'x4') are included. Wiring diagrams, yes. Calrod, not sure. The author is a source for the heating element kit for the oven.

Worth the money, IMHO.

Wow, that is definitely going to be one fine piece of machinery when you're finished... excellent job, Chris...

I too looked at purchasing those plans, but the initial cost was a major deterrent, so I built my machine using the Thruston James method. The only difference is I substituted the tanks/pump for a 5hp shopvac. It works very well and I get nice sharp pulls with .080 styrene.

My question to you, if you don't mind me asking, is how much will your entire machine actually cost after all is said and done? I admit that mine was built as a cheap necessity (for around $250), but I may need to upgrade here shortly.

Thanks :)
