BTTF2 Pizza - Complete

Re: Hydrate Level 4 Please

So looking at your images again, is the pizza and the red circle in the packet the same size?

If you are after 99.9% accuracy, don't go by what I have.

I bought it because it's close-enough to my eye in general & because it looks cool. :lol I have no idea how accurate it is :lol

I suggest that for your purposes, you do a few simple calculations from screencaps, or search for any original ones that may have been sold at auctions etc. They almost always have measurements like X wide by Y hight :thumbsup

I read your comments in your thread about a prop having that cool factor. I want to make it as close to yours because it is cool looking. When I did my search for images, I found a few variations and yours was the one that jumped out at me.

I figure that if I grind the 'crust' down a bit and round it off, it will give the appearance of the base being a bit thicker. That should bring it down to the said 2.5" and that will have to do I think. From there I will scale the circle on the bag to be slightly larger than the pizza itself and call it a day. This is going to be a 'no cost' prop build where I will use what I have and not buy anything specific for it.

After I re-size it, I was thinking about using a hot glue gun to add the 'peppers' and "peperoni' by making small dots and dashes with the hot glue and then give it a paint job.

For the bag, I am thinking of printing the graphic onto a clear film and laminating it over foil from the kitchen. As long as it has the metallic finish, I'll be happy.

Re: Hydrate Level 4 Please

For the bag, maybe one of the silver foil mailers
Poly Postal Packaging | poly bags | mailing bags | postal supplies
You can then figure a way to stamp the art.

These look like they would be perfect.

I'd never seen them before and am sure they are not a stock item at Australia Post :unsure

Re: Hydrate Level 4 Please

Y'know, i'm pretty sure i've seen mini pizzas in kids food play-sets that would work really well. I've seen pepperoni ones . You could resculpt the green pepper side.

Re: Hydrate Level 4 Please

Because i'd see the Jack-Ass guys eating one a stunt.

Which would create a string of fools all doing the same. That would then be followed up a few months later with the Myth Busters showing that your belly won't explode if you were to be so silly as to eat the dehydrated pizza :facepalm

Yeah I have seen them too. I'm sure the day care my little fellow went to used to have one. I think from memory they were over 4" though.

Re: Hydrate Level 4 Please

The "easy" part, to me, would be shaping the base pizza. The challenge would be getting a three-dimensional effect of the pepperonies and whatever the green vegetables are. Also, how the heck did they get the pepperoni color to look so good?

Re: Hydrate Level 4 Please

this looks good so far! for a peperoni colored effect, u can try dipping half of the paint brush in black and the other half in red. the when you do tiny circular motions, they start out looking regular (non burned pepperoni) some burned, and merge together looking like in the picture. I'd suggest trying it on paper first just to see how it works, its just a thought I had

Re: Hydrate Level 4 Please

I have a few more things to do here, then I can go and grind the crust back a bit more :love

Not a bad idea! I'm interested to see what he uses for the pepperoni too.

Re: Hydrate Level 4 Please

So according to this Profiles in History auction, this package measures in at 5.25 inches x 5.5 inches.

I printed out a test sheet using a file from the paper props thread, and it seemed enormous. However, after looking at stills from the movie it appears to be the correct size.

I tried printing this on some foil paper with an inkjet printer and had no luck. It just was not interested in drying. It also looks like most inkjet printable silver foil papers are stickers. I think my next try will be printing the logo onto an inkjet friendly clear vinyl. I'm curious as to how that will effect the overall look of the foil, but it can't be any worse than smudge city.

I also have some Sculpey III, and I'm going to try to bake this sucker out of clay. I'm not sure how well it will work, but it is better than my other option (nothing).

Has anybody else noticed that some of the bags being sold on ebay and the like say "SERVERS 8"?

Re: Hydrate Level 4 Please

My plan is to print on clear and then place that over the foil. I asked today (when I got my Hover Board vectors printed) is they can print on foils and or silver paper and the best they can do is clear as well.

So I've ground back the crust a bit.

It is still oversized, but will have to do.

Sorry for the blury shot.

This shows the side profile which is more rounded than yesterday and I've placed it on a lid of a spray cap that is 2.5", so you can see that my part is slightly over sized, but not worth getting upset over.

So next is time to add some details.

Re: Hydrate Level 4 Please

And on goes a layer of peperoni :)

I used an ice cream container lid and this clever hole punch that bends the plastic as it pops out the scats. They kind of look curled the way peperoni does on a real pizza :cool

Next is the capsicum, sorry green peppers :love

Pepperoni? It looks like corn kernels :lol

Re: Hydrate Level 4 Please

Haha I thought it was frozen corn kernels too! They also seem almost spade-shaped. Are they actually circles? The real prop seems to me to have flat pepperonies which would lend itself to more using a hole punch in the ice cream lid or like a plastic butter tub lid.
