BSG Flightsuit - Sommers Fabric Alternative?

Has anyone found a cheaper alternative to the Sommers Chroma Satin and Marcasite fabrics used for the NuBSG flightsuits? I can't seem to source anything locally (but then again, since when was I able to source anything here?:lol).

I did consider getting the Costumebase flightsuit and modding it but the color of the CB suit seems pale compared to the actual Sommers fabric, so if I can find a cheaper alternative fabric I might just consider making the suit from scratch.

There is an alternative for both out there. I can't remember the details off the top of my head though. I know they are out there.

Unfortunately, the Colonial Fleet has permanently closed its doors. They will not be accepting new registrations again.

The Admins of the site are basically decomishining it, and turning it into a museum.

There was some alternate stuff, but it has all been sold off and is being horded by those that have it. The down size is the alternate stuff was almost as expensive as the real stuff.

Flightsuits are hot right now and there is along wiat to get one sewn up too and that is rather expensive too but worth it.

Ha! It was never not expensive to get one of these suits. No matter how you cut it, you're going to pay. If not on fabric or sewing then on other components.

The price to get one of these done correctly rivals the price of a screen used set - If you're die hard, I would actually try to get a screen used set for only a thousand more.

My current tallies on the full flightsuit come to around $1200...and that's not including the cost of sewing, which I'll do myself. But still...these babies are 'spensive! :ninja

Sommers has alternative materials that simulate the chromaflair polyurethane at reasonable prices. You can find some of it one their website but I know there is more available. Also, they are willing to make a run of the genuine (and expensive) authentic material without requiring a full mill run.

Check out Sommers again but speak to the owner, Fred Schecter. He is a fan and will help

Have you tried Sommers Plastics again? They are very cooperative and will make every effort to find you the right material. I know they get large orders from the studios and you might get lucky to tag on to those if they are out of stock. The Chromaflair pigment is very expensive, for sure.
