Brushed Metal Finish

Hey,

Just wondering is there any method of getting a brushed metal finish using paint. The parts are small (70mm by 65mm diameter)

Cheers

i used some wet n dry sanding paper dragged in the same direction over a delorean plastic model years ago, then sprayed silver over the top. it came out very well.

i intend to use the same method on an iron man helmet when i get round to it

Also brushing the paint. If I'm not wrong the gold of the SU ironman helmet was brushed gold, and it looked awesome!

i just used rattle can aluminium colour, then a light wash of black which went into the lines i sanded into the plastic.

that was trying to replicate stainless steel on the delorean.

not sure on the finish your trying to archive though

I heard it long time ago, I think it was at a review of the movie costumes or so, I can't remeber exactly but it was a trusty source.

hmmm, i'm not buying it.

a guy down the pub said his brothers girfriends uncle once knew a guy that thinks he was a painter on the film said he thought it was not hand brushed.

but he did have a couple of lagers so he may be wrong, plus he was a crack addict.

;)

This some good info.I too am learning to dry brush helmets and Iron man is new to me as far as painting it yourself.
