I saw the trailer for this movie earlier today and wow, I'm pretty excited. I know on one occasion I've wondered what Superman would have done if he'd turned to the dark side. Farm? Check. Spaceship crash landing? Check. Papa Kent's truck? Check. Snyder-style swing blowing in the wind? Check. Looks good, though, I'll definitely be checking it out!

Huh... Seems worth having. And it's no mistaking it as evil Superman. But, I kind of doubt it will be enjoyable. Most good Superman stories' conflict's revolve around being about personal interaction, secret identities, and protecting friends, because he simply can't be challenged in a physical way.

If this is just gonna be Brandon wading through "Middleville", or wherever this is, and turning it into a civil war blood bath reenactment.. then where's the story? How is it not just murder porn at that point?

Except that it's not - it's not really a James Gunn film. He's only one of 6 listed producers (and not even an executive producer). He didn't direct it, he didn't write it. They're just using his name in a slightly misleading way.

Thank you for the info! They certainly have been being misleading about it. Still excited, but good to know.

Going to call it now... The mother has to make the choice to kill the kid. She was the first one to touch him and "somehow" that means he's depowered when she's holding him...

Or else the whole town acts like that episode of Twilight Zone and kiss ass to prevent from being "wished out into the cornfield."

This film reminds me so much of the old Superman comics where they explored a 'What if' story.
It is the flip side of Stan Lee's "With great power comes great responsibility", we get to see if Superman had indulged in is darker impulses when he was young and had no care for what happened.

Saw it tonight. While I did enjoy it, it was so predictable. Overall I feel I could've skipped seeing it in the theatre and maybe would've liked it more, but we pretty much go to the movies every week, so oh well.

I think a lot of films are just fine on the home screen- some demand a theater experience like the Star Wars and Trek films, but with our set up at home they are great. If a film is special enough or has things I would like to reference or see over and over again (Ready Player One) I buy the disc, but a lot are watch one time and I am fine.

I used to go to movies as social events, but with the price of tickets and popcorn for a family I can get the BluRay and the Player for it at the same cost...

Brightburn had all the usual jump scares and telegraphed every plot point but it was a fun way to “burn” 90 mins on a rainy day. I liked it. Very interested in what they could do with a sequel. They set up for the “evil” justice league in post credits.

I dug it. Not great... certainly not bad.

I wish they had made the kid more a sociopath from the beginning... Felt like he was fine til the ship called to him.

Clark was a good kid raised by a good family... If they're doing "what if Clark was bad" have him be a kid torturing animals or being a complete weirdo from the start....

Finally got around to seeing it. Not a great movie, but I don't feel bad for having seen it. While there is a set up for sequels, I don't know if that's something we really need. It made nearly 27 million on a 7 million dollar budget, so it's at least a financial possibility.

I saw this yesterday and would give it a 5/6 out of 10. Its hard to describe why I didn't like it more... it's like the individual scenes were fine, but they didn't develop into a solid whole. Maybe I was looking forward to it too much... Still it was a good popcorn movie.

Could have sworn that I replied to this... weird.
Anyway, I really liked it.
Kind of tipped it's hand early if you'r paying attention (like a Shyamalan film) but that wasn't a totally bad thing and certainly didn't break the film.

Finally saw this movie and had no idea its Superman rip off. At first I thought it was dumb when I started seeing the parallels. I'm like wtf, are the producers ripping off Superman because they couldn't get the rights? Then I realized it was intentional "what if" just like the "what if" comics from Marvel. Knowing that I like it better.

Being a huge Dragonball fan I couldn't help but notice the parallels there. Goku was sent from planet Vegeta to take over earth. Those parallels might be purely coincidental though.

It is an almost perfect 'what if' type spin on the Superman story- that is one reason I liked it.
It also fits well with 'The Boys' Amazon series (and a lesser par with 'Watchmen' and 'Hancock')- just because some one possesses super powers does not guarantee that they are a good person doing nice things, sometimes it is an ******* who gets the power

Wasn't expecting much, but I found it fun. I'll give it big points for staying true to itself and not employing the usual Hollywood happy ending. Once it turned dark it stayed that way! Liked the cast, except for the kid. Found him a bit flat. And the two gross moments (woman in diner/man in truck) were good and nasty! And not much waste--in and out in a quick-paced 90 minutes.

Liked it more than I thought I would. A 3.5 out of 5. Worth a shot if you have any interest at all.
