I thought i would share this project im currently doing. I always loved the Bride of Chucky version because of the dirty, damaged doll. Plus I thought the movie was awesome lol. So me and my buddy Warren decided to make one. Of course i started with the basic sculpt keeping in mind this was going to be a silicone doll.

As far as the hands, we wanted to give more than just plain basic hands. In the movie, Chucky has some scenes where he gives the middle finger a few times and smoked a joint i. The van with Tiffany. How cool would it be to offer a doll with different hands? So thats what we did. We made a regular hand, a hand giving the finger and a hand smoking a joint.

Next was to mold everything. I made silicone glove molds since i would be casting in silicone and it would be easy to remove them. But you have to use a release agent. I like glove mold because there are no seams.

I cast the first pieces in silicone. I made simple mothermolds because there was no reason to go overboard with materials and time. Plus i figured if something didnt come out just right, id have to re mold/sculpt etc and all of that material would be a waste.

From this point, I figured i could start on the eyes. I used a 28mm mold to make epoxy glass eyes. Warren suggested we spice up the eyes instead of just plain eyes, so i started experimenting with phosphates and powders. The whites of the eyes have a liquid phosphate added to make them glow white under UV light. The photo on the right are the test chips. As you can see, the right one has the liquid phosphate mixed in. The photo on the left (although blurry) shows the eye balls with it mixed in. I didnt want the whites of the eyes to glow blue like most powders. You either get blue or green. That why i chose the liquids. Yes, there are other steps to get this to work, but its far too long to type.

Once i casted up some eyes, it was time to paint the iris and pupil. Because the eyeballs themselves now glow white, i wanted to experiment with the blues of the iris. We both thought it would be killer to have complete glowing eyes. White for the eyeballs and blue for the pupils. So the painting began using an 18/0 and 20/0 brush

I added some veins to give them that bloodshot look. Although they still need polishing and topcoat, im sure you guys get the idea. These were the final eyes after making over a dozen experimental sets testing different colors and techniques. I hope you guys like them.

Next i wanted to change the teeth. Even though the teeth were sculpted into the head, i like the look of acrylic teeth much more. I molded the mouth area and used a yellow colored tooth powder for the teeth and pink for the gums. Later ill add some slight shading around them and seal them with clear acrylic to give it the wet look

The bodies are polyfoam that are fully articulated. They can be posed in a number of combinations. All joints can move and retain positioning. Ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, elbows and wrists. We included the battery compartment in the back like the original

Next were the clothes. We found the material/patterns and had all the correct screen printing done. I think the final product came out
perfect.

For the shoes, the sole was sculpted with the good guys logo and cast in urethane. The upper parts of the shoes are “pleather” lol. All parts are hand sewn and the laces are screen printed with the good guys logo

Since these are going to be silicone, i started looking for human hair that matches the color of the onscreen doll. That proved to be very hard. So I ended up getting hair and sending it to a salon to be dyed. This is 9a grade human hair so its high quality. We will be hand punching the hair on the doll. No wigs

Now that the body and clothes are pretty much ready, it was time to start test fitting the eyes, teeth etc and to paint. What I normally do is make one or two test heads and experiment with different colors. I pretty much ruin them trying things out. But as you can see, the eye pockets are perfect for holding the eyes in place. With a little cleaning around the lids. The next step is to play with different colors etc until i get the exact screen colors used

Here are 3 casts tests. One is untouched from the mold. The second is a paint test with reds and blues and the third is a paint test with browns. As most of you may or may not know, silicone painting is not like traditional painting. It requires many different layers of diluted paint to achieve the desired colors.
I started messing around with different stitching and methods. This was a 1mm round leather cord. It is not sewn through like regular stitching. Its basically cutting an inch piece and inserting both ends through the silicone to resemble stitching. Although it gives a nice 3 dimensional look, its not the look we want. Mainly because it cant really be pulled tight. Also, both the middle and right head have the acrylic teeth. The plain cast on the left does not

After a bunch of different stitching materials, I decided on a 1mm waxed thread. That was the closest match to what was used on screen. I decided to start with the hands first. I did all the stitching and then added the acrylic fingernails.

The hand that held the joint was a little different. I sculpted a joint and added a diode bulb inside it. Its run off a cr2032 battery pack. The 3 right hands offered are held on the body with neodymium magnets to make them simple to change.

So now that the stitching is figured out, i started to cut out areas to add the exposed metal like the movie doll. Im using a .25 polished aluminum sheet. At the end I’ll probably polish it to an even shinier luster and add some weathering.

Next, i started to install the eyes. As i said in an earlier post, i added some phosphates to the whites of the eyes to make it glow white under UV light. We also wanted to figure something out to make the iris glow too. Because i do all my eyes by hand, i started playing around with different liquids and powders. After many different paint ups, this is the final eye going into the doll. Hope you guys like them. The one photo on the bottom left is the only one with uv light to show the white. All the rest are natural lighting/darkness
