Hey everyone! I've been thinking about doing this project on and off for the better part of a year and a half, and I've finally gotten my head to the point where I've actually started putting forth some serious work. This is designed to be a (very late!) gift for my groomsmen, whom I bonded with while playing Borderlands 2 in college.

I am building nine Borderlands 2 Infinity Pistols, each equipped with a unique pairing of one of three sights and one of three grips, as well as a detachable laser sight and bayonet. All of the components were modeled in Fusion 360, with particular attention paid to how to make the overall design modular, minimizing the amount of molding work I will need to do. The parts will all be printed once by either my office's MakerBot Replicator 2 or by Shapeways depending on the detail and size of the part.
The guns will then be molded using (likely) Mold-Star 20T, then slush casted with Smooth-Cast 325 or 326. Certain parts of the gun will be lit with LEDs, allowing light to shine through particular regions of the gun, and there will be three guns of each color, or "flavor" (Corrosive, Shock, Incendiary).
Given the nature that these are gifts, I will not be producing more than nine guns. At some point in the future I'd love to build other Borderlands ordnance for sale, but the Infinities will remain a closed project.

After each gun is built, lit, and painted, they will each be given a display base with a power adapter, allowing them to be statically displayed and still light up without needing to change batteries. They will be supported by 4.5mm acrylic panels, cut by (likely) Ponoko or a local guy with a laser cutter if I can find one.

If you're interested in following my work, check out my Instagram @slukaindustries, and this thread! I've already sent off for parts from Shapeways, and have begun printing the pieces (as long as our Replicator 2 is still working).
