Any one here able to get Hi res caps of the guns from this film? I want to start working on the custom comps. I have ordered an airsoft version of the gun so I just need good reference on the comps. Thanks!
Funny, I just started the same thing. I picked up a cheapo airsoft DE to try to figure out the comps. I got a .44 model because I couldn't find a 357 DE. But the bodies are all the same so it's a minor detail..
I've got the film on blu-ray. It has a special feature about the guns that offers some really good close ups. I do not however, have capture software. What I do have though, is a rather good camera. If you like, I can see what I can do.
I dunno how the airsoft DE's are constructed. I can't find any diagrams for the TM electric DE's that run in the $50ish range. You can buy inner barrels as upgrades for rifles and some pistols, so you might be able to buy a replacement inner, modify it and cut so it goes to nearly the end of the compensator, and build an outer barrel to suit your needs for attaching the compensator.
John, most Airsoft barrels are usually slip in aluminum or brass tubing in 6 or 8mm diameter.
Your best bet is to get some tubing in that same width and outer circumference that you can extend and onto the compensators so it doesnt impede the firing of the bbs.
Here's a good picture of what I mean:
those barrels just slip right in, and some attach with a twist lock, but i figure get a cheap desert eagle, disassemble it and take it to a piping company to get some extra length so it extends from the receiver so you can add the compensator.
Gilmore has the right idea there. Just get a longer 6mm inner diameter barrel and replace the stock barrel. Then you can even use the old barrel as a base to build your compensator on so it will fit the modified DE when it's done..
