Blue tube stripes

I am looking to hand paint the tube stripes for my next build, and have been experimenting with shades of blues available.

Being in the UK I am looking at the Humbrol range, and after much reading and advice sought I have bought four shades to compare, and thought I would post them if anyone else is interested.

I have gone for:

Gloss
14 - French Blue
15 - Midnight Blue
48 - Mediterranean Blue

Satin
221 - Garter Blue

I had to just brush them on quick this evening as had to put the kids to bed, so excuse the rough brush strokes:

Just so ya know, the colors you posted are not going to be the colors seen on everyone's monitor. I have to deal with this on a daily basis with customers is why I mention it. Unless you adjust your monitor, camera, and what ever else used to use ICC correction it will never match.

Can you mix 14 with 221 ???

IIRC, the originals were painted in Humbrol #15 Midnight Blue, same as the ab buttons.

Some pics they look light, others dark... all depends on the lighting etc.

I think that was just a very well educated guess based on the types of paint they would have had available at the time, but by no means were those documented.

I may have some original samples of these as I have a large crate of 70's humbrol and other paints somewhere.

I think the humbrol blue that everyone uses is too dark. The blue buttons should not look darker than the gray and they do if you use that blue.
