Nothing of real substance here... But I remember being at the EAA Fly-In in Oshkosh, WI, probably 20-25 years ago and they had that there, with a 'For Sale' sign in it...

My dad was a pilot, but not chopper, and not sure if it was fully functional, but I still could not convince him to purchase it back then (no clue what asking price was)

There was a model kit made of it by Monogram in 1/32.
I had it as well. Even did up a scaled figure pilot to put in it.

But it appears to have returned, courtesy of Aoshima:

Managed to snag this very rare 10x8 of the balsa wood mockup parked on the railtrack for your pleasure - pretty detailed but then it probably should be for being destroyed over and over from multiple angles....:lol

Would love to see more contributions if anybody has pics of this bird...!!

I'm wondering, I know that they released a toy of Blue Thunder with an action figure (I spotted it at Acme Comics and Collectables in Orlando a while back. Would have bought it, but they wanted $50, and I'm rather limited in income right now). Don't know how accurate it is, but I figured I'd toss the link into the mix.

Nitpicking, wouldn't a vehicle made of 1 inch thick armour do at least some damage to the train ? :confused

Not really. You're forgetting something: 1 inch thick armor is meant to handle arms fire, not a train.

I have one mint one now and one as a kid I accurized. It has not much on the cockpit. Just a undetailed dash panel and a bench seat. The skids are way high so it does not sit nearly as low as the real one. It actually hit the cannon turret when it takes off in the movie. It's missing the ammo box on the underbelly which also contributes to it sitting too high off the ground. The ammo belts from the underbelly ammo box to the front turrets are not there as well.

Having said all that it can be easily accurized and is an awesome toy. I have loved both I have had and is easily worth $50
 
I read once that the BT section at Disney started out as one of the full scale props. They cut the tail end off to use it to film the flying scenes that were filmed on a sound stage. They may have also used it on location, so they wouldn't have to truck one of the full scale prop helicopters around for the non flying scenes of them entering, and exiting the BT.
