It's a costume thing, somebody modded a lightsaber to looks like a different prop. a "beam katana".

What I thought was quite interesting while reading the preview in Edge magazine is that it was in Edge magazine a few years ago they talked about possible solutions for making a working 'lightsaber' - and one of them was a 'hacksaw' design like in this game.

They have been a staple in Japanese fighting games and some anime cartoons for about a decade. I want to say Battel Arena Toshinden had beam sabres constructed this way back in the early 90's.
