Hi guys, I'm trying to put together a merr sonn blaster for my collection, and I'm curious, what is this piece? Is it hardware, and if so where can I find it? If not, what do you guys use for it? I think I've got the rest of it pretty much pieced out, but i'm stumped on this one.

Thanks for the help.

Cheers.

Mmm...I don't know for sure mate, but if it's not metal it sure looks like the type of grip one would find on a whipper snipper to me....

That's actually two parts back to back. They are plastic parts from a model aircraft engine. Nobody has found the correct ones. I've been searching for years.

The same parts are on Greedo's blaster and Leia's ANH and ROTJ blasters. Plus the front grill on Han's ANH hero was made of a few of these cut down.

Boba Debt offered some fine machined replicas a while back.

Wasn't there some discussion about a possible new run of those metal replicas for Leia blasters? I'm interested in a set as well for my Merr-Sonn project...

Joiner said they were actually plumbing adapter parts, not model aricraft engine parts... but it could be another "nozzle off an antique fire extinguisher" debacle ;)

I have a metal casting of that part in my for sale thread which is listed above.

It's the only one I have left and I want $10,000 for it............................j/k

I always thought it was split loom that had been spread open but the dust boot idea seems right.

Hmmm, this could get interesting. A quick pic of a dust boot...

Looking at the center section of the screen used part, it looks like it could be 2 boots joined together. The center section of the part seems to separate towards the bottom in an unusual way. If that's the indeed the case, then the bottom boot in bwingpilot's post would be a good alternative.

Cool. Shedding a little light on it. I think I have a way to do it hardware-wise figured out. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Cheers.

Well, here's what I came up with...

Not bad for a WIP. Just a couple of PVC Nipples cut down to fit.

Gotta get on the flash hider.

Cheers.
