Blade Runner: PKD "Snub" blaster

Hi all!
Recently I got a new PKD Snub kit by Rick Ross. It's a great little conceptual blaster that totally captures the feel of the BR world.
I finished it up, and wanted to share some pics. :)
Here it is alongside my Coyle v.4x. After building and handling the Snub for a few days, the full size PKD looks and feels like a cannon!

Here are a couple of shots of each side. I painted it to resemble the Worldcon photos (like my Coyle model.) I used a flat black for the "plastic" sideplates and small ammo clip, and Testors Metalizers for the different sections of the body. I used Stainless Steel for the lower frame, Magnesium for the barrel, and Titanium for the upper parts. I didn't do any real weathering to this blaster. Instead, I gave it a mist coat of Testors Dullcote to bring down the shine and give it a slightly used in-service appearance.

This was a really fun kit to do! I'm making a new display case that will house both blasters together. I'll add a pic when I'm done.

Thanks for looking!
Eric

That Snub is a brilliant addition to the BR prop realm and the price can't be beat... goes to show that _quality_ replicas can be made for _reasonable_ prices! ;)

Love it!

I never get tired of seeing everyone's work on the many versions of this weapon.

Did you take any pics of the LEDs lit up?

Bruce

Thanks guys!

Unfortunately, I didn't wire up the LEDs. With my electrical skills, I'm sure I would have blown up half of North America or something. :wacko
Once I get it into the display case, I don't intend to handle it at all, so I figure it's not going to detract from the appearance.
Oddly enough, at the right angle, they do seem to glow a little bit.

where can I purchase one of these kits?

There's a site called propsummit that specializes in Blade Runner stuff.
A guy by the name of Rick Ross is a member over there. He goes by doppelganger01. He produces a couple different BR prop weapons.
Great communication, and really high quality kits! :thumbsup

Does he also make a fully painted version? I'm all thumbs.

I am unsure if he is still offering them fully built as I believe his time is short, however, his kits are not expensive and I am sure you could find someone here or at propsummit.com to build it for you.

Also, his kits come really clean. I do not think you would have problems even giving it a go yourself.

Eitherway, good luck!!!!!

Eric,

I love your build!!! The titanium is awesome!

Thanks, Tom! My 2 BR blasters are really the first time I've used the metalizer paints to any large degree. They really give a nice finish. Depending on how much you buff them, and whether you give them a clear coat or not, they can really give a wide range of appearances.

I finished the new display. It's a $24 shadow box from Michael's. I found some craft paper in a sort of leather color and trimmed it to fit in the back. I like the color. It kind of reminds me of Deckard's trenchcoat. :)

Man, glass is hard to photograph! I don't know how many angles I tried to get just a few good shots. :lol
