Blade Runner Blaster Redo

Hello all
I've been pretty sad and depressed lately as well as feeling lost. Working at a Hospital with covid as well as the loss of a family member last year has me on the ropes as they say. No one knows Ive been felling this way.
Today was nice outside here. Low temp and low humidity and rather than just sit here like I have been doing I decided to clean up my garage. Then after that I got it in my head to repaint and slightly modify my Blade Runner blaster.
I put this together some years ago. I was never satisfied with the paint. The aluminum paint looked just like that ....paint. I also over did the weathering. So I took it apart and began repainting it. 3 hours went by and I didn't realize it. It felt good just doing something. I repainted the gun frame barrel bolt action and butt plate with chrome paint from ace hardware. It looks ten times better! It's actually reflective. Looking more like polished aluminum now. Tomorrow I will paint the other parts with semi gloss or gloss black then we will see how it looks. Still I got the workshop cleaned up and I'm happy for just that. I will add pics once the paint is dry.

My wife is working on the UK frontline giving out jabs. Hearing what she is going through I can only imagine how difficult it must be for you.
Condolences on your loss.
Your Blaster is looking fantastic !
For a quick and cheap mod ( if you are after as seen on screen) ..rub a bit of car polish into the grips and wipe off 90%.

Upgrades are looking good! Glad you were able to find something to help you get through the tough time.

The world is in a crazy place, for sure! Hang in there, and keep doing what makes you happy!

Sean

Thank for the positivity..I've painted all the parts. Used the chrome paint on the receiver and the frame and the buttplate. Gloss black in all the exterior prices. Giving them today to dry then reassembly.

Here's some pics showing how reflective the chrome paint is. Looking more like polished aluminum to me . The chrome paint takes a while to dry. So gonna let it sit for a couple of days or maybe put it in my basement where I have a dehumidifier running. The cylinder has a magnet in the middle to help keep it closed.

Yeah...that paint is really looking way better than the other one(y) Don't be shy talking about your experience/feelings. It's hard to be on the front
lines in the best of times; I cannot imagine it now with that pandemic:(

Excellent idea; nobody can make you seek help, the "need/want" has to come from you. Remember that motto: "Captain of my Soul, Master of my Destiny"(y)

Thanks for the support from everyone..
Still waiting for the chrome paint to dry slightly tacky right now. Any suggestions on how to achieve the gunmetal look for the upper receiver?

So done with the repaint. Used ace hardware chrome....does not dry fast at all...used gloss black for the black parts and a stainless steel paint on the upper receiver. I used graphite powder on the upper receiver and the bolt handle. I looked in three different stores for a gunmetal paint but none to be found. My large red led on the bottom seems not be lighting up so that will be addressed tonight.

Love it man. Before the pandemic I got this Anders PKD resin kit and I didn’t do anything with it until life got somewhat normal again for me. I’ve now completed the kit and did some “rusted” weathering for a hero prop finish. I’d say it came out good, considering it was a year in the making. (Still gotta fill in the light gap in the cartridge and then it’ll be fully done).

propmainiac ,
It's good that you can share your issues on here, that is a step forward, but you need to share it with someone close, or at the very least a counsellor, as sometimes, support here is limited. It's better to speak face to face with someone rather than someone that may not know your situation. It's also good that you are concentrating on something that brings you joy in these times. It's difficult to believe, but forcing yourself to look for the small positives in life can really make a difference.
