Blade Runner- A Web of Props (Original Pics updated)

I've finished the mockup of the esper and and have started the VK machine found at it's base. Everything looks pretty good so far and matches the various size relationships of the known objects.

I'll try and take some pics of the work so far.

I've also figured out two new found props that I will reveal very soon.

Here ya go-

General Electric's Recon-1 Walkie Talkie.

The part is used in two places inside the Spinner's cockpit.
Found on the Dashboard and between Deckard and Gaff.

In hunting one of these down I found that there are a couple variations that very similar.

There is the Reckon 1 with different dial markings and the Rekon 2 with a slightly different color scheme.

Don't you just love the fact there is a collector for everything. http://www.shadowstorm.com/cb/Vintage_CB_Walkie_Talkies.html

Without his collection page of vintage CB Radios and Walkie Talkies I would have never figured it out.

Hope ya enjoy this wierd nugget of a Blade Runner prop.

Nick

That's a great find!

But what I want to know is...

Since Gaff is driving, how come Deckard gets all the gauges to look at.

Awesome find dude. Great work. Someone post a link to this thread in the "What happened to this place" thread. Just to show the folks that there IS still some brilliant work and collaboration being done on board, and there ARE still interesting finds to be made

A couple new pieces found the other day.

The first item is located on the piano in Deckard's apartment.

As you can see they came in a variety of colors and now go for around 200 to 500 bucks. Deckards got some classy tastes.

However this guy

produces reprduction lamps in the same style but without the green tinting for much less.

While having a blast searching through Art Deco websites I came across this.

I knew I had seen that coffee pot before and I was right.

It's a super minor prop but a fun find all the same.

I've got a couple other found items to share but it's one of those cases where I want to find the items for myself before revealing them.

Hope you get a kick out of these geeky little finds like I do.

Nick

I'm putting an ID in with my PKD display (instead of a plaque) and here's my attempt based off the info in this thread:

deckardid.jpg

it's unfortunate that so many of the pictures in the thread of disappeared. Suggestions/ideas? I'm hoping to laminate sometime this week.

I had those exact walkie talkies when I was a kid.

Who knows, they may still be in my parents attic, or my mom could have sold them at a yard sale.

Tough to say.

i dont know if i can help any with this but i just have to say nice work on that deckard ID badge very clever not using a publicity photo for his pic or at least w/o modifying it

Working on some BR graphics this afternoon and decided to search to see if anyone had done the VK machine- Found this thread- =Very cool stuff-
Any updates?

Doc

Not to spoil Nick but,

Something to do with this scottish gentleman by the name of Charles Rennie Macintosh? ;)

The Argyle Chair from the Argyle Street Tea Romms in Glasgow

I'm sure though that it has nothing to do with the chair.

Regards and please show that VK mockup soon...

The chair is super cool but this discovery has nothing to do with the chair.

This photo shoot with Rachel sitting at Deckard's kitchen table has a ton of cool props. It's actually the picture that led me to figure out what the TV set in Deckard's bathroom was.

This television set also appears in a hallway in Deckard's apartment.

This monitor thingy is actually a portable TV set from the late seventies.

Very cool find, Nick. :)

At first when I saw the pic of Pachel at the table I thought , "hmmm... those two Johnny Walker bottles appear to be different sizes," but then simply attributed the height delta to perspective depth. Still, it doesn't appear that the table is long enough to produce such a marked difference. Anybody care to comment?

I also like the sharpness of detail on the bottle in the foreground and the fact that it's at eye level - it validates the scaling and measurements I took from screen grabs to create my 3D model:

Can't wait for the replica.. (gee, wonder who could be making one...? ;) )
