Limited Run Blade Runner 2049 - K's blaster....in Metal

SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!

I’m happy to say that i am finally happy with the result of the seam of the grips after trying multiple methods.

The key was to tape off the edges of the cloth to prevent fraying, with green painters tape that had been de-tacked on clothing as to not pull up any of the fibres upon removal.

I then spread the cloth open and masked off any necessary areas, and sprayed Super 77 and allowed to cure.

After the Super 77 has been applied, fraying will become less of an issue, as it binds the cloth together.

I then removed the masking tape, and carefully met the edges tightly, using an agate burnisher, and trimmed the excess cloth.

The final part that needs to be seamed is the butt. As before, everything is masked, spread open, and sprayed.

This step is difficult, as you want a tight, and straight joint, and avoid any puckers in the cloth. Give the excess a trim, and now it’s time for the wet coat

I am really happy with the result. I’m going to let this cure overnight, so i can trim and scuff-sand tomorrow.

Well. I would say colorwise it looks close to the original prop.
Maybe the surface of your part looks a bit "rough" (for lack of a better word) or maybe too matte?

Will it be laquered upon?

When I compare your parts (from the recent pictures) to the original hero prop the surface of the hero prop seems smoother.
What is the reason for this and will the surface of your blasters like the hero prop when completed?

Hi all,

i wanted to let everyone in on a new development.

I was notified recently, that i qualify for a small business loan, and am in the process of pursuing.

if it goes ahead, i plan on investing in a Metal X 3D printer from Markforged.

This will mean all blasters will be printed in metal, resulting in a far superior finish, strength and weight than pewter.

would there be any objections to this?

For any of you wanting refunds, the loan would also provide me with the resource to make any recompense.
