Blade Runner 2049 Joi Emanator boxed - exploration

I bought the Joi Emanator from Tip Top Workshop and started my research with the Prop Store photos.

Although the paint and prep I can do on the resin cast Emanator would be straight forward, I wanted to also have the presentation box.

I looked around and found some 3d files, but nothing for sale. I also checked the files against the photos available and I wasn’t convinced they were accurate.

If anyone has any link to an accurate resin or plastic 3d print for sale, let me know. I would be very interested.

In the meantime, I convinced myself that it would be possible to mock up the box in card, then paint it and add weight. So the plan I have been obsessed with was to create a top, a lower, and an insert that could be felt covered, that matched the screen photos.

I got as far as a prototype and understood what would be needed, but now I am not convinced it is a good idea at all. For one, it is quite large. Two, the slightest misalignment means there is skew that causes exponential problems. Three, what the h* am I doing making a cardboard box.

Here are the mock up steps I took, and the prop store original. My lower box is too tall, but the rest of it seems more accurate than the files I have seen.

If any one wants the dimensions, let me know.

If anyone has any good suggestions where it looks like I am off baseline, maybe let me know.

If there is a better solution available, definitely let me know.

Yes, that box is an angle nightmare. You really have to be super precise with your angles and measurements. Your mock-up is looking fine, I think, in size(y)(y)
