Black Hawk Down - Durant Body Armour Help

[LDR]

Can anyone tell me what sort of name tag is used on Durants body armour from Black Hawk Down.

On this screen grab, you can see its not the normal name tape seen on tunics, but appears to be a shiney type label with a very small font type printed on it.

Also can anyone read the label i think it says:

MIKE DURANT

but i am unable to read the letter below.

Any help with this would be much appreciated!

I'm pretty sure that's actually the flap from a pouch (possibly a map pouch) and the writing will probably be White paint. The number under the name will be his servce number or at least part of it, possibly may also be his chopper number.
Just google the real guy and I'm sure you'll find the number.

Thanks for the reply.

Having a look at this pic, i believe the name tag isnt a pouch. Just appears to be velcro backed label.

On this pic you can see 4 pouches:

1. Velcro removable pouch
2. Name tag
3. Velcro removable pouch
4. Pouch sewn onto armours belt.

So, are these name tags available to buy or would i need to custom make one?

Flight suits Nametags or Leather name tags or flight suit patches and military leather name tags, Air Force Patches and keyrings.

Yes, agreed one of my favourite films.

I have Durants screen used vest, but its missing the extra pouches/name tag etc.

who did you purchase it from?

you may want to contact prop store....they sold tons of vest and gear from black hawk down....i remember seeing a few tactical vest, but didnt see nametags....

the last four digits looks like 64...cant make out the other digits..

when i have time later today, i will see if i can get a better view while watching the movie

Yeah, i THINK that is the best you will get. The first digit does look like a S...I just couldnt figure out the middle digit


Maybe later today or this week, i will look through my dvds. I bought the collectors edition of black hawk down. I will see if the special features have anything

Ive managed to get the blu ray and make some grabs.

Now the lower letters look nothing like 'S-64'.

From these grabs it looks more like 'O POS'.

Anyone have any idea if this is a rank or something?

well the name tag finally arrived, and it looks great. Needed some slight modification to get rid of the sewing round the edge.

Then did some bending and creasing to weather it a bit.

Here it is attached to the screen used Durant vest. You can see the label inside, where the name Durant is crossed out, and Atkins written. This was also used in Tears of the Sun by Red Atkins, at the start when they are in the black gear.

Just need to see if i can get the screen used pouches.

Anyone notice the MagLite Mini on Durant's and other pilot's vest. Looks like it's common practice for all of the pilots to put either a MagLite Mini in a velcro open top pouch, or have both a MagLite Mini and what looks like a Ka-Bar in a leather scabbard.
