Hey gang,

Well every year or so I put together a new costume for the haunt conventions I attend. Past costumes are GB, Indy, Gladiator, Ash (evil dead) and others...
Always loved the Jack Sparrow costume, and can't really explain why but I've decided to dive in, to the expensive slippery slope of Capt'n Jack.

So far I have 3 of the MR rings on the way, pants and shirt, also on the way.
I have alot of the links to the Jack sites, by researching the threads of others.
Hope to have it presentable by June...:rolleyes

I'm bitten also and am putting together an OST Jack as well. I highly recommend ACME for belts, baldric, tricorn, & tats. CAboots for boots. YorDreem for vest, jacket, wig, wrist wrap! Hope that helps. Enjoy the quest, I am!

Aye, welcome mate. It's a rough ride but a good one. I also recommend Keep to the Code for a great deal of your research. I go by Jack of All trades there and also make sparrow and pirate wares. Good to have you aboard.

You are absolutely correct about Sparrow being a slippery slope!
I've honestly lost track of how much my Sparrow costume has run me so far, but I can say that the single most expensive individual component of my costume is my sword - I dropped just over $1600 for it.:eek
When I take the time to get on-line (don't have internet at my house) I go by Witty Jack over at kttc.

Shirt on the way by Pauliepoos, Ca Boots on the way!
Wrist wrap on the way! Toy compass on the way.

Wig and belts going to be ordered after the holidays.

Also will be adding a pair of brown contacts, and dying my blondish, brown faicial hair for the costume.

Which version are you doing?

Sign up over at Keep To The Code. Most of us Jack's are doing On Stranger Tide version but there are still a few that are entering in the Jack world with DMC/AWE versions.

Now the rum is on you mate!

I did sign up a couple of weeks ago, but never recieved the conformation email.

As far as which version...I'm thinking about mixing them up a bit. I do like DMC, but may add some things from other versions.

At first I didn't like the OST wig...but I like the length. I think the my costume is just gonna be all mixed up.:rolleyes

Let me know if Paulette is doing the accurate collar standard on her shirts now when you get it. The first one I bought from her, the way she normally made them, was all wrong. I had to request she make it differently the second time.

Can any tell me if there is a big difference in the Yordreem wig and Mrs. Mazie wig?
What are your takes on the two?

Both are great wigs. Chris not only ties the dreads in but also hot glues them as well. Some prefer that while others do not, if they want to alter the wig themselves at a later date. Yordreem is a bit more accurate but not by much.

I love my Yordreem wig, with the exception of the Kuchi charm and the bone sail needle, which is made of wood. The charm tends to flop around and get caught in my left beard braid by that silly gem he glues on. The difference between the two for me is that Yordreem was easy to order from, whereas Mazie was difficult to contact and completely ignored my requests to buy from him.

i guess Ms. Mazie dropped off the map, he was a pleasure to work with when I got my wig and beard appliance! <cough> As a matter of fact i'm selling me wig in the JY <cough> :)

I don't have either wig because I make my own! I heard Mazie also glues the bandana to the wig. Not good! Especially when you have to perform maintenance on the wig.

Just remember OST wig will require LOTS of maintenance because of the extra long dreads, move wig hanging greeblies, and more dreads. Less lose hair though which is nice.

As for your long kuchi dangle moving around.....just take a dark thread color black or brown and sew it to a dread. Take a few loops around the kuchi between the beads and cinch it up through a dreadlock. Tie it off and wahlah...no more kuchi in the eye!:lol:lol:confused:wacko:love

My old Mazie wig didnt have the glued bandana but did have the glued dreads.

Well, my paulie shirt arrived today! It's awesome!
Also my tyranical Chicken foot arrived today and a wooden mermaid charm from H.K.
It's been a good day.

Yordreem wig ordered yesterday... went with the pirates 1-3 wig... I like the look of the OST, but they brought the price on the earlier version down and I couldn't pass it up.

So my costume will be a bit of all the Jacks...I like certain items so I'm mixing it up a bit...

Boots-check
Shirt-check
Belt dangles- all in check (might add the MUM head)
wrist wrap-check
Wig ordered
Plastic sword-check
Rings I may reorder...have the Mr and only the flower ring fits
pants are CB...waist fits fine...thighs will probably split if I sit or squat...horrible but they were $20 so not a big loss...figured I'd try at least try them for that price.

I know someone that has some great leads on wig accouterments........oh wait that is me! More DMC/AWE style. Finishing up OST versions soon.:love
