Bioshock Infinite 'China Broom' Shotgun

So this is kinda a big deal for me. This is the first prop weapon I've made where no tutorial or blueprint was present or an ability to look at the in-game model from different angles in order to get a feel for how everything fits together. So far that hasn't been a major issue, though I can already tell the receiver is going to be a tricky bugger.

Up until now I've been lucky enough to work on prop weapons that can be done in one piece, but that won't work here. Thankfully, the weapon can be split into four distinct parts: the barrel, the receiver, the handle, and the lever, with metal plates serving as a means to connect them all.

I'm going for a cross between the Comstock variant and the in-game weapon. I liked the look of the gold filigree on the Comstock shotgun but didn't want to sacrifice the wooden handle from the in-game version.

With any luck I should be finishing the barrel in the next few days.

Barrel's finished, barring some slight touch-ups and the gold stars. Made some progress on the receiver. All the stuff on the side hasn't been secured yet.

For next time I think I'll use craft foam for the rail and side portion on the barrel. EVA isn't very good for detail work, I'm finding.

(Yes I know craft foam is technically EVA, but you know what I mean).

Yeah. Not sure what I could use instead since craft foam isn't really the right thickness (though there may be thicker sheets out there that would work).

I don't have any good wood tools, so MDF is out. I'll probably have to go with gluing sheets together unless I can find it in thicker sheets (or even a better material).

I decided to bite the bullet and redo those parts with craft foam. Already glad I did. Paints not finished yet for the new parts but it already looks a LOT better. Will have pics up tomorrow.

Barring some slight detail work, the receiver's finished. I went back and fixed the EVA strips with craft foam, really glad I did, it looks so much better now. All that really remains now is assembling the parts and then weathering!

Dude, THAT IS FREAKIN' AWESOME!!! I just got done playing the new Bioshock. I've been a HUGE fan since the first. But that is a really cool shotgun, keep it up!
