Bigturc's Tie Bomber thread

Stu's AWESOME starter kit arrived today .. and boy am I glad I bought one of these .. the parts, the tight fitting, what a great time saver!!!

Awaiting 2 more packages and then, I'm ordering the rest of the material. After that, it's build time!!!

Thanks Stu and everyone who contributed directly or indirectly to this thread .. you guys rock!!!

Hey guys,

Wihle I'm waiting for my parts, I was wondering what was the official paint used on this? I thought Tamiya Haze grey spray was it, but for the life of me, I can't find it in any Bomber threads.

Hints?

When i was researching it seamed like there was no know paint i think the general consensus was a 50 50 mix of two colors

I painted my Bomber using a mixture of Tamiya White, Black and Blue XF-8.
It looks closer to studio model.

Love the color Moska!
But I hate mixing .. always comes wrong! ;)

Hopefully, someone will chime in with a close enough spray can! :D

More update .. parts are begining to arrive!

Got my plastruct order along with my Vader Tie!

I'm sorry, I can't help you because I did all these pieces from scratch.

Just a warning: the piece from the Yamato corresponds to the old model. In subsequent reissues this part has changed.

Thanks Moska,
You're right about the Yamato and Shinano issues about the urr .. reissues! That's why they're harder to find! Who knows, maybe someone have a spare or cast of it! ;)

Al,

I see you have the acrylic plastruct. I'll send my extra hemispehere and dome, they're abs rather than acrylic. You can give it a try, I hear its easier to scribe.

Cheers

Ron, thanks again for everything!!! I'll finish this thing just for the help you gave me on this! :thumbsup

On another note .. GUYS, I'm doing an order for the missing kits I need .. and as weird as it will sound, I'm missing around 50$ of kits .. so I'm wondering, what kits good be good to have around as one offs beside the kits from the Bomber? I tried the 8Rad but my sellers didn't have them .. so .. I'm waiting on suggestions! ;)

Hey Al great job!!

Tamiya Haze Gray TS 32 only comes in a spray can, with and few coats of dull coat since it has a satin finish, color is a very close match to original my local hobbyshop has some.

Wow, looking great. Just started on mine. One thing, the body to wing mounts on yours is wrong. The final ring is too big. It should be slightly bigger than the Leopold part. Also, only the smallest tube is tappered.
George

Thanks George ..
Although everything you see right now are parts, material and the Bomber itself is Stu's starter kit. I'd be inclined to say that it is bang on in terms of the 3 rings .. but I'll let the exports chime in! Lee? Julien? Stu?

LOL .. sorry about that George! What I meant is that personnally, I didn't study the base shape in terms of size and all while other people on this board got the kit and seemed to be sure it was accurate to the SS model.

Really, there was nothing more to my post! I'm happy to hear from different people what they think about the parts! I'll check the kit tonight about that ring size .. are you saying cause you already have that kit and had to correct it on your side?

Nothing personal, trust me. The outer ring is slightly larger than the Leopold plate. Check it out.
