Best Way To Wear Your Arc Reactor?

If this is the wrong forum sorry please move it to the correct one ^.^

Anyways halloween in coming up so I bought TC arc reactor kit (Looks really nice)

I've got everything setup to finish it in time the only problem is I have no idea what I'm going to do to make it wearable!

What do you guys think are some good options and how would I go about doing them?

I saw a post about a magnetic strap where it lights up once connected which seemed like a great way to go except I have no idea how this would even work!

Anyways any information you have or directions you could point me in is greatly appreciated

-thanks

the best way to wear your arc reactor is on your chest. Trust me, you get strange looks when you have a light up crotch. :lol

but seriously - magnets work fine. get two quarter sized disc magnets (or larger if it'll fit on the back). Attach one with strong glue to the back of the arc, and the other can go behind your shirt. I recommend the magnet strength to be really strong.

Other options are to get industrial strength velcro. glue a few pieces to your shirt and the corresponding pieces to your arc and *slap* you're good to go. (Glue it, don't rely on the adhesive that is already on there)

another way is to build a complete harness. Something like this...

the buckle will be at the chest area and you can attach the arc reactor to the buckle.
This style of harness can be made with any sort of nylon strap.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Do you know of any place where I could pick up a harness or any good resources for making my own?

Also where should I look for the magnets (radio shack is the only place I can think of off the top of my head)

Lastly does anyone have any idea how the arc reactor where it only lights up when attached to the magnets works?

Are they wiring the less to magnets then wiring batteries to them and connecting them or?

Sorry I'm just very new when it comes to the whole electric side of props :p

I can't answer everything, but I have done harness, magnets and magnets and silicone.

Harness wise, I just used clear bra type straps that I made connectors for on the back of the arc. I did a cross pattern on my back. This was only for the version that I cut a hole in my T-shirt.

For the one that you attach to your shirt, just some rare earth magnets will work. I bought mine from Amazon.

I also make a sculpt for my chest out of silicone and imbedded the magnets into the prosthetic. This allowed the arc to connect to that and the prosthetic was held onto my chest with skintight glue

The easiest is probably the magnet and shirt route.

for the thing to light up when attached to a harness you'd need to replace the switch with a magnetic reed switch. It works kinda like this:

make sure you get one that can handle the load of your arc. You dont want to set your chest on fire.

just google neodynium magnets and you'll find a whole bunch of places to get magnets. They're really cheap - but some places make you pay for 10 or more, but even then it comes out to only a few dollars.

I haven't come across any tutorials for harnesses, most store bought harnesses sit a bit low on the chest or at your waist like a seatbelt. It's not really difficult - just google "4 point harness" and you can see a bunch of pictures of harnesses and use that as a sort of guide.

I wear mine with a rare earth magnet, one glued to the arc reactor, and the one beneath the shirt is glued to a compeed bandaid. This compeed things never comes off from your chest. Ever...
