Best Trek Uniforms Source Wrath of Khan Style

I don't know if you guys are still in need of any reference materials, but I've owned 3 different maroons and still have one in my collection. If I can be of any help with info, I'd be happy to oblige. And, no, I wouldn't be willing to ship someplace.

Thats the problem...nobodys seems willing to loan Indy an original. We have plenty of folks here who own or have handled originals but second hand info is only worth so much.

These are worth thousands of dollars each and that's not even talking about the emotional attachment. To lose these in transit is extremely horrific. To date Garver has sent out two sample sets that each never reached their destination and never got to IM - if that's any indication of the safety of getting any of our suits out there, sorry that's no reassurance.

Not arguing that point merely stating a fact...we have plenty of information available but if IM needs hands on to do this its not going to happen unless somebody hands one over. Im not blaming anyone Im just frustrated that this is a project that always seems to fail to get off the ground.

I don't disagree with you- having something in hand speaks much more than second hand knowledge.

I realize that the hardest thing is the jacket material and construction. They don't make the stuff they used way back when, so a reasonable replacement would have to be chosen. And that's why an actual screen-used version would be of great help. But since that won't be happening, what would Plan B be?

As for colors, I've seen 7 original maroons in one place, and none of them matched exactly. I've had 3 and they didn't match either. So color matching isn't as tough a thing as you might think.

For what it's worth, I believe Mr. Garver no longer has an original maroon.

Here's mine without the straps:

Don, you are correct, I sold the last of my jackets a few weeks ago, however, I have some small swatches of original fabric. I have tried to send the swatches to Indy and they got lost in the post... I had sent a sampling of swatches including old maroon wool, new maroon wool as well as gabardine from the straps and several shades of undershirt material...

I am going to make one more attempt to get fabric to Indy... if this attempt gets lost I'm afraid I cannot do anything more than that as I will not have anything else to send...

BTW, nice looking maroon you got there... :)

Actually, this fellow modified the same uniform I spoke of in the thread from the lady on eBay which when it got to him initially was a mess. He would still be worth talking to about it.

Check out that thread for some great pix and detail notes. The site is pretty helpful too!

I have a Gale Uniform...and I had to replace the belt (which was pretty bad/cheap)--the security wheel and the pants were way to big and I had to get the jacket taken in a little and also add the little patch on the right wrist area for the rank pin...so with the gale uniform, expect a lot of work to do to make it screen accurate.

Gale's uniform is decent, but you need to make modifications to it in order to be almost screen accurate. The one that I bought had the front panel fastened to the jacket with velcro, and gold buttons in place of the security wheel and strap wheel lock mechanism. I replaced them respectively with chain and snaps, the proper security wheel and the wheel lock. Add the proper pins and you're set to go. It does come with a nylon belt and a plastic buckle, as well as a thick white long sleeve shirt with the quilted collar.

Here's a pic of mine after modifications:
