Best Trek Uniforms Source Wrath of Khan Style

Its not a secretive thing dude

Oh, but it is... I've got this screen used fabric, but I "can't" (won't) discuss any specifics about it, because *I* have to be the only one that knows about it ... (not just talking Trek either.... is the key phrase)

- these things are worth 5K and more to be sending to another country. Once things leave US hands, it becomes an international matter and people just don't feel safe.

I do understand the costs. And you bring up a good point. *IF* anyone were to share (and I know it doesn't make up for it) that is why you can buy insc. for your items.

If anything the people who own these have been more than willing to give.

Jose if you took my comment personally, I apologize as it wasn't - by any means - directed at you.

Its all good Dave -

If any indication was the BSG projects KDJ and DJ did, you know we're all about the free-lovin -

My point is, Garver and I are more than willing to share what we have. We just need specifics from the man himself, being Magnoli.

I for one don't know which Patone card he uses. I have sources who, if we get the right fabric, will dye this stuff by the original lady who did it. She could use my uniform for reference even.

So you see - its out there, I have yet to see specifics of what is needed.

It looks like this project is back on-line. So... is $495 within the budget of those of you who have shown interest? Or should I try cutting corners???

Kind regards,
Indy

Peter, I am going to make sure IM makes your price double.

Good news everyone, Garver has signed in to help with the reference of this project - so that's two sources of screen used goodness.

Its a fair price and color me def interested.
Question though...what options will there be for department and rank?

Mmm. Still very interested but for that price I'd expect complete inside & out with accurate pips/squeaks a-go-go and the undershirt thrown in....

I'm still interested in the jacket as well, Indy. Like others mentioned above, I would prefer it to be complete as possible with such things as chain, belt and undershirt, etc. :)

I think you folks asking for all the acoutrements are going a bit overboard. Belts, pips, squeaks etc are available elsewhere and I for one dont think IM should have to be responsible for providing those things. The chaining and snaps and clasp are a different story as they are an INTEGRAL part of the jacket. It would be nice if the undershirt was included but at $595 this is cheaper then what others have offered (and failed to deliver) on this jacket. The studios paid MUCH more so consider yourselves lucky :)

I am not in charge in pricing at all - but I wonder if that price is going to stay the same - this is an expensive (wool and dye) jacket to do (minus the pips and pins)

If taken all the way, it is definitely a fully lined jacket. That's the way it should be done.

When we did these for the opening of WOK, we used a civil war jacket pattern that got us real close. We had some inside info to help us make them before the opening.

Mike, those are a great example of what they look like when the insides are done right. They literally stand on themselves because of all the interface underneath. The suit is so thick that the Roddenberry.com movie pin legs was NOT able to be pushed through all the layers to the female clasp no matter how hard I pushed. In the end, I had to shave the legs off and resort to earth magnets.

I've done one of these and no that price is not ridiculous. There is an incredible amount of work to make these look correct. You'll need to get your own pins etc... This costume if made from accurate materials would be worth well over $600 for jacket pants and tunic. The belt will need to be custom made but you can buy the buckle.

Dave :)

Thanks.

It also shows what a group effort accomplishes. Also keep in mind we had to make the belt buckles and rank insignia. Fortunately we had insider info from Paramount before the movie came out.

That info also provided us with the maker of the chain and how it attached.

Here is the chain. You used to be able to buy it a Berger's Beads in LA. I still have about 3 feet of it, that I bought in 1981.

We also got a sketch on how it attached.

Now I know this has changed because I've seen original costumes up close since then. But for WOK the chain was applied differently. Four links were broken apart and stitched on individually with a thick black thread between them. Then those groups of four had standard snaps between them.

Later incarnations simply used four links of chain together, seperated by snaps.

Understand?
