Hi All..

I want to make a prop with a small pool of blood in it.. Very small. .I figured colored resin would work best? Has anyone here done that with resin? Is there a good type or color combo to use?

Thank you!

You might want to try a little test batch first, but my buddy Phil mixes red food coloring with 5 min epoxy for blood on his masks...

Good Luck!

"Normal" stage blood will remain tacky - even after it dries. That goes for home-made type stage blood recipies and for the professional Ben Nye type stage blood options.

Red food coloring can be a bit "too red" sometimes, depending on the application. If you're putting it on a dark background, it may be ok, but if you're putting it on something light, it won't look right. Try a few drops of red with a drop or two of blue to darken it slightly. Like SgtFang says, work with small batches until you get what you're looking for. Epoxy can work, and so can rubber cement if you need a little bit of flex.

2 part epoxy, tinted with paint. I used 5 minute epoxy, mixed in Tamiya red (X-7) and let set. 5 minutes later, I had a pool of blood, that remained fresh looking and was rock solid in under 24 hours. And since I had both on hand, it was free. If you have to buy everything, it will cost you well under $10.

Cool.. I have red paint already and a bottle of 2 part "gorilla Glue" which I think is an epoxy.. Ill test it out!
