Best high end airbrush?

this has probably been asked before, but what is the best high end airbrush to get? anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

My favorite is the Iwata HP C or HP A. I've been using them for years , they've never broke down. Don't buy anything with plastic parts ... even Paasche airbrushes ... you will regret it.

As a matter of fact, I have a few I'm wanting to go as I have multiples of the same models and I haven't done much painting for awhile.

One is a Badger 2020 but this one is for high-precision and very fine detail work. I also have several Iwatas... a HP-C and a HP-C Plus. Not sure if they sell the HP-C anymore but both are pretty much the same... the Plus has a pre-set handle for regulating paint flow and better control. The Iwatas will give you larger area coverage and can also handle fine line work... not as fine as the Sotar though. If you plan to get just one airbrush for modeling purposes, have a look into the Iwata HP-C Plus.

Iwata HP-C!
The HP-C has a .30mm fluid tip which is much finer (which in my opinion, is better), and atomizes the paint much finer for highlights, or shading.

The second choice would be a HP-BCS (gravity fed model). It has the .35mm fluid tip, which is a little cheaper to replace the needle and fluid tip, but it does not break up the paint as fine. But it can handle thicker viscosity paint. So it's a little more versatile, but not by much.

I believe that the HP-C plus has the teflon needle bearing, but I was thinking they put the teflon seal in the regular HP-C? I can't remember now! I would stay away from the models with the air adjustment valve under the nozzle. It costs more, and all you need to do is adjust your air regulator on the hose for the same effect.

I will agree with the rest Iwata HPC is one of the best.
The Richpen Phoenix 213C is slightly better, has a far smoother triger action but there parts are quite a bit more in price. I have one and it's my favorite out of the 9 brushes I currently own.

In my experience, high-end usually means high price but does not necessarily mean high qualiity. The painter's ability controls that. The amount of control and detail you can get from an airbrush depends on your familiarity and comfort with the airbrush's action, the proper paints at the proper viscosity, and knowledge of the quirks of airbrushing. I have many different types of airbrushes, but I always fall back on two, and I use one of those 99% of the time. It's an old Thayer & Chandler Vega 2000 (Thayer & Chandler was bought by Badger). I can get a 3-4 inch wide spray and taper that down to a consistent hairline, and I've known airbrush artists who can do much better. I rarely need more control than that. When I do though, I have an old Olympos MP-200B (the Iwata CM-B is a very close copy). It's an incredible airbrush, but I rarely have need of it's abilities.

Seems like the iwata hp-c is popular choice. There's a hp-c + on Amazon so I'll probably go along and get that one even though it's on the pricey side. Thanks for everyone's help!

Iwata. I own many different models. For fine detail, the Custom Micron C. The HPC is a good all round airbrush.
Cheers,
Kevin
