One of the small side grips on my MR Dooku has fallen off. Good adhesives to reattach the rubber grip to the metal?

I'd recommend E6000, sticks anything to everything...

Used it to glue rubber t-tracks to my aluminium E-11... worked a treat.

Takes 24hrs to cure though.

I asked about this a few years ago and if I remember correctly Larbel (the man, the myth, the legend) said to use epoxy, I think he was involved with that project too.

HEY! It's JEDI SCOUT!!!

(just continuing the running gag...) :lol

I would use a contact-type adhesive. Apply to both surfaces, let "tack" and press. Many epoxies won't stick to the plated metal surface. (Neither will some contact adhesives, so choose wisely). The grips are PVC which is resistant to many non-solvent-type adhesives as well.

Gorilla glue sticks to almost everything... in my experience...

Good you see ya! Good luck.

I used Zap-O for mine... odorless CA glue that won't craze things when it dries.

Yes, that's been my primary concern--finding a good adhesive that will bind the soft rubber grip to the metal--and not corrode the grip.

Gorilla glue and I have a long and not happy past together. I'd use it as a last resort for this application--but it does do an amazing job. I've used it on some tricky bent wood applications and it has never failed to get the job done.

Funny you bring this up JS.

I bought my Dooku when MR offered them, and it's been sitting on a display stand, inside, out of sunlight, air conditioned for years.

I picked it up recently for the first time in years, and the grip is coming off.

Guess I'll try some Gorilla Glue.

JamesKenobi1138--same deal here. Walked past display case and saw the side grip laying on the base. Just peeled right off.

Thanks, everyone, for the input. I'll let you know what I decide to go with and how it turns out.

Had this happen to mine too. I used a 2 part epoxy after reading somewhere that there is a risk with crazy glue with regards to fogging up the chrome. Didn't want to test if this was true or not.

I also wrapped the handle with painter tape after applying the grip to ensure the edges stayed down and didn't peel up while the glue set.
Worked out fine. :)
