Becoming Spidey

Hey guys. I just got here! Booyah!

Anyway, I plan on a project so awesome that nobody has ever thought of it before...
I'm making a Spider-Man suit.
:facepalm
Alright, so it's not very original, but it will still be cool. Making a Spider-Man costume is something every nerd should experience at least once in his life...
Technically I've already made a Spider-Man costume, but it doesn't really count because it's Spider-Man Noir. Moving on...

I'm going for a classic look. This is my inspiration.

These are my blueprints. Yes, I know everyone on the internet hates Ultimate Spider-Man, and I don't like the series myself, but it was the only front-side-back image I found. Besides, the look is pretty classic, except for the lack of webs on his arms.

And this (no link) is my list of stuff I need. It's a complete mess, and I have very little of an idea of what I'm doing, but without further ado..

Cloth part
- Red & Blue Spandex
Web texture
- Liquid Latex (tinted black for webs)
- Black Acrylic Paint (to tint latex)
or
- Black Puff Paint
or
-Fabric Sharpie
Eyes
- Felt, plasic or something for the outside of the eyes
- Lenses
- Sunglasses
- Cloth Mesh
- Metal/Wire Mesh

I was considering this texture for the webs instead of what I planned before. Now, that pretty much means no texture at all, which is a nice change from the usually fancy shiny webs that don't remind me very much of the comics... iDunno. For now, I'll just edit my list and add a fabric marker.

Thanks, dude! :)
There are two suits of blue spandex at the store that I'm considering buying. One is a bright blue that might look okay, while the other is a nice navy that I prefer. Here's the catch, the better one is $15 dollars more than the less good one. My budget still somewhat large, ($130) but I don't want to be careless. Oh, decisions, decisions...
Is a stylish blue worth fifteen dollars more than an alright blue? Anyone?

if your going to put that much work in it might as well spend the extra $15 and get the color you really like.

Someone suggested this idea to me. What if I buy spandex, and sew it together? Since I won't need it until six months from now, it probably would be more efficient to sew it in the appropriate pattern. I do have some experience with sewing...

I don't especially want to do this, but this idea was brought to my attention and I thought I'd share it with the experts (you guys).

I have been advised to go with sewing the thing together, so I made a pattern.

I got it from some other places, but since I'm not printing it, I removed all of the designs and modified it in order for it to be possible for me to sew it. This is just a rough draft, mind you, I'll work on it more after posting this.

EDIT: in fact, I might have taken it apart too much. Just the mask, mostly: I do want the gloves and leg-things to come off.

Working more on the pattern, but I don't feel like I'll post it right now. Anyway, I need to buy some spandex.

EDIT: In 2013, my aspirations far exceeded my experience; I never ended up sewing a Spider-Man costume from scratch. Definitely for beginners, ZentaiZone a fantastic option. They have some really nice patterns and they sew custom patterns as well!
