Hi all
This is my 1st of 3 planed predator suits.
1st is one for my 5yo boy
2nd is for my wife
And the 3rd will be for myself.
The idea is to have a predator family for conventions, Halloween, party dress ups and house display.

So the first will be for my boy.
I have used different ideas I have found from this site and other ideas I've come up with myself.

Starting with a tape dummy, yoga clothes, foam off cuts, glue and sanding to sculpt.

Still bit to go on the body but thought it was time to show what I've been up to.

So I wanted to make a computer gauntlet with lights, sound and a removable bomb.
I had never even heard of pepakura before looking into this site so this is a big learning curb for me.
I resized a Pep file three times till it was right for my son and used it for a base to build off.

Added body filler, sanded

I got ahold of a $7 sound module that you can load mp3 files via usb, it has five buttons that trigger the sounds and even came with a speaker.

So the speaker was not the best so I rigged it up so I could use a moshi bassburger speaker. Sounds excellent and loud!, real loud.

The lights became a challenge as I have no electronic experience what so ever.
From a two dollar shop I found a squishy ball that when it was bounced it flashed red and blue LEDs.
So,I took it apart and got the parts that made it light up and replaced the on/off mechanism with a push button.
I then added LEDs to the circuit, green as green is the boys favorite color.
Not exactly a count down but it lights up.
I also found some real cheap novelty sunglasses that I popped out the lenses and glued them on as screens.

It was this stage when I discovered that the buttons on the sound module needed to be changed over as they were too flat.

Then just added foam covers, eyelet holes and paint its almost finished.
A computer gauntlet with lights, sound and a removable bomb.

Could use a bit more detail in places but I need an early night. Ty

Hey again

I've finished the blade gauntlet to go with the computer.

I used same method as before to get a base and attached a drawer slider. I found some meccano like pieces at Bunnings to build an attachment for the blades and frame a trigger mechanism. There are four little bolts holding on each blade, the front bottom bolt is longer and holds both blades to the mount. This is so a trigger/latch can hold onto and let go of. There are two springs one pulls the slider forward and the other holds the trigger/latch down. When the blades are pushed in the, latch lifts itself over the longer bolt and locks it, and when lifted the latch lets go of the bolt and the blades shoot forward. I had thought of a mechanism to lock the blades when in the forward position but it really was not needed on this one due to its small size. To trigger these there is a fire line feed through the front of the gauntlet and attached to the latch, the other end will be attached to a ring.

The blades are made of perspex freebie off cuts, the guy who gave them to me just happened to have a mate who has a lazer cutting machine. One phone call, couple of emails and a short drive and I had my blades cut out.

Added some detail with foamies, and painted.

Back on the body suit.

I added some tinny Pom Poms I found in a $2 shop figured they could fill the spaces between the muscles, and give that bubble texture.

After a few latex coats.

Used more Pom Poms on the legs.

I used all monster makers latex and latex paints, a touch up spray gun and a eclipse. All of these things I have never owned or used before. After the latex had been added id thought we better try it on for a test fit. There was no way we were going to get this on without breaking his arms. We cut the top right down the spine and sewed in a wet suit like zip, fits great in and out easy as. I've painted it in a greenish camouflage color combination, a green predator was the request of my son. I could of spent more time on details and such.

I have not done any spots and can't decide if it even needs it. I'm happy with how the Pom Poms came out.

Hi guys

Ready to show you all where I'm up to.
Pretty much all done and ready for OZ Comic Con this week end.
Here is the mask.

It's a Ruffkin P2. My son was very keen on the "green predator".
First time painting a mask, really had no idea what I was doing.
The dreads were a real pain, I'll look at doing them differently in the next build.
The quils keep snapping in half also.
The biggest problem is he can't wear it for more than 1minute at a time.
Hope this is not the case on Saturday!

Hope he can wear it all with the gauntlets for a few photos at the convention on the week end!

So we had a great time at Oz Comic-Con!
People really freaked out when they saw a miniature predator.
We really had ran out of time to do any final test fit so I had to adjust it on the day.
That moment when the whole suit was on and watching it come alive was an amazing feeling, one to remember!
