Battlestar Galactica Brilliant Vodka Bottle

I have some of these bottles from a local Chicago retailer who sells the vodka for $10. No idea how it tastes since I just pour it down the drain. Not much of a drinker here which makes me a cheap date...

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has done stencils for the bottle so that the backward "J" design can be acid etched or sand blasted onto it.

You could probably get the same effect by spraying it with some Krylon or Rustolium frosted glass paint.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll keep that in mind. However, I'll still need a stencil... I have no talent for stuff like this. I noticed there were at least 3 bottles in the scene with Adama and Tigh last Friday night for reference...

The Hero bottles had the logos but several did not.

If ya have a whole buncha these bottles you should do a run if you get the stenciling right, I know i'd be in!

I actually did search and found some stuff, but I searched on stuff like 'battlestar bottle' and 'bsg bottle'. I should have thought to search under 'tigh'...

Thanks for posting the link!

The search function is your friend...

I think I might have the label template at work. I'll upload it tomorrow.

BTW - According to the BSG Prop auction last weekend, the screen used bottles were "faux etched" so I assume they either painted it on, or used some of that stick on glass frosting stuff.

The local place I found sells the bloody things for $25 a bottle. :eek I bought a couple anyway, and I've only gone to converting one so far. I found a template somewhere else last year, and had to alter it a little bit because it wasn't quite accurate. And it was the miniseries logo, if I remember. It had the oval around the L, and I wanted just the L.

I used Armor Etch from Michael's or Dick Blick, and clear contact paper stuff - um, whatever, you know, used for lining drawers and stuff - as the mask so the Armor Etch wouldn't etch everything. It worked pretty well, but I think I should have left it on for a few more minutes. It doesn't show up as well as it does on that screen grab. Looks nice, but a bit more subtle, and not so metal foil-like.

What's the name of the vodka? I've not been watching the new shows until I finish up with season three on DVD so I can't ID anything...

*headdesk* The brand is called "Brilliant" in real life, not the show. According to Google, Sams Club carries it.
