So with very little time on the clock, I have decided to build a Batman 2021 Batsuit for Halloween. After discovering that sculpting fine sharp angles and flat surfaces is WAY harder than sculpting busts and figurines, I have turned to EVA foam. This is my first time working with it and I’m still getting used to it. Anyway here’s the breastplate, and it’s a double edged sword. I love it and I hate those stupid seams, all at once. Any advice on hiding those is very welcome. Enjoy

Edit: This breastplate has been scrapped, here is V2

Built the first bicep piece, added some detailing to the shoulders and a quick paint to the breastplate just to get an idea of what I’ll end up with and, I’m not psyched. I’m thinking about molding and casting it in plastic so I can clean it up with sandpaper and a dremel. Pretty happy with the bicep so far, but it does feel a bit like a blood pressure cuff....

Built and sealed my first gauntlet. Not 100% accurate but I’m on a time crunch and there’s honestly not enough reference photos for complete accuracy. Either way I’m happy with it. I still need to figure out the darts and the blades.

So it’s looking like the gloves used are mechanix breachers seen below, which are expensive as hell, so I’m using this similar item,
and compromising accuracy a bit for a 70$ price reduction is working fine for me. So for anyone else looking for budget gloves, I highly recommend these.

Painted the breastplate a lighter and flatter metallic shade, and I really do like this color, but it appears to be even more matte in the film, is there anyway to give it a more matte weathered look without a repaint? This is the best color I’ve found, and I don’t want to keep buying paint xD. Anyone have any ideas?

Great work on the armor so far. I think I’ve been able to identify the boots he wears based on the new set photos. I guessed they were motorcycle boots based on the side zips, lug soles, and the flap like toe cap on the side of the boots (I believe it’s too protect against the heat of the engine). The ones I’ve found match pretty much exactly those features, and geometry of the boots in the film; aside from the lighter colored thread in the welt which could have been dyed. I’m not sure if the model I’ve found is an exact match since it’s a common design for motorcycle boots, but I do know it’s pretty damn close. Also, based on new photos I can definitley say those tactical gloves are not the same from the film unfortunately. Based on the fact that they used motorcycle boots, and the gloves appeared to be mostly leather, I’m willing to bet they used hard knuckle motorcycle gloves too. I’ll link to the boots below.

I also have a theory, and another possible ID. I believe the boot gaiters are leather half chaps for motorcycle or horseback riding. Although I haven’t been able to find any good matches, so it’s possible they’re custom. As for the possible ID, I’m fairly positive the drop leg holster is a Condor Tornado with the buckles switched out. Based on the two gray stripes along the straps of the holster, and the stitching pattern on the side of the holster. I’ll link below to the drop leg holster.

Nice catch on that holster, I’m not seeing a link though just a picture. Would you mind attaching a link when you get the chance? And yeah, I’m planning on building the gaiters custom since I haven’t found anything comparable either. Let me know what else you find, this is all really helpful.

Thanks, actually didn’t take that long to find the boots once I realized they were motorcycle boots, and the holster was even easier (first page of Amazon). The gloves on the other hand are still an ongoing search. I’ve looked at thousands already, and nothing close to matching yet.

Still trying to figure out what his undersuit is. I have a theory that it’s some expensive high altitude flight suit, or maybe even for racing. I have a hunch it’s off the rack considering the DIY nature of the armor, and a lot of the pieces being ready made. However, it’s a good chance it’s custom too. I’ll link to the holster below.

After some digging I found a holster that’s very very close to the condor at half the price, since I’m on a strict budget anyway..

After finding another thread about ID’ing parts from the costume, turns out I wasn’t the first to find the boots. Really thought I was a trailblazer with that one. However, the good news is I saw some more set photos on that thread, and can confirm from those photos that its definitely the TCX Hero boots. You can see on the new photos the ridged back piece, the circular protruded logo, and a better view of the angular pattern of the boots. I’ll link to the other thread below
