Thanks everyone. Pretty excited to see this finally come to fruition. It's this suit that got me into this hobby in the first place.
To answer a few questions -
The intention is to offer urethane rubber copies. The mold is going to be seamless and to try and pull hard copies out is real hard on the mold. Not to mention it makes life too easy on the recasters to have a hard copy. Not saying that any of you guys are into that but it an especially sad reality in the Bat community.
That being said a urethane rubber copy will hold its shape very well even while just on display.
As far as other cowls, don't think there are many we'd tackle. Maybe the TDK since we could get a 3D modeler to mod the Begins cowl. Also perhaps the Arkham Asylum as the files are out there. But as far as other movie cowls they are all readily available and most originally from movie studio sources. So likely not. Not to mention that we'd need the 3D files to make them and for those older movies they don't exist.
Having experience with 3D models, and seeing how nice the painted part looks; i can appreciate the amount of work that you put into sanding and getting it to this point. Very nice work... Definitely interested.
The 3D model itself had symmetry issues and flaws. Hollywood is less than perfect. :wink So those of course get printed too. But I'm happy to say they're all gone.
They're the same one. Just at different points of finishing.
And there's a difference between "details" and "flaws." NO details were lost or changed. But to me it makes no sense to include dents and bumps that should not have been in the original in the first place. That would baffle me.
That's a great new !!! I think urethane rubber is the best to make pulls of these baby. I got a Vericetti's Dark Knight Cowl for years now and it really hold its shape even today...
Sorry I haven't gotten back to anyone regarding this yet. Wanted to make sure the mold is good and we can get a handle on running urethane skins. To do it right is an art form in itself. With something like an Iron Man helmet we can putty any flaws. With a rubber cowl you cannot.
In any event I think we're real close. Let's keep this thread clean of sales questions. I will post in the Junkyard when I feel we're ready. First test cast from the mold. Couldn't resist throwing it on.
Overall pretty pleased. I got the sizing right. At 24 1/8 it fits me great. Maybe a bit of room to spare in there. I'd say 24.5 max would fit it. Like all cowls its a bit of a struggle to get past the neck but after that its all good.
We think we're gonna do another slightly smaller. Maybe up to 23 inch head max. In the meantime I gotta pull a couple more so I can master pouring urethane.
