Bane-The Dark Knight Rises- 1:1 sculpt by Bob Dullam *June 18th update*

so much thanks. but ya know I fight with this stuff too. I think the first trick is to get a feel for what is working, and what isn't, and then the second trick is to figure out how make what isn't working work better. I make goofs, I go in wrong directions, and I get frustrated with having to go do it over again. It's easy when a project is based on a routine you have down pat, with no need to invent the wheel. But not so easy when in uncharted territory.

Overall I'm pretty happy with it. There are a couple of goofs I made, which no one has mentioned, or I suspesct no one caught (I'm not tellin). Those tubes I did were shoddy. No, I'm not talking about those, it's something I can't go back and redo.. the tubes can come and go, obviously.

Oh I'd love to hear what "you" think you missed and that everyone didn't catch, that would be great~

bats why are you being such a dick about this piece? whats it got to do with you or anyone else how it gets finished, if your'e so well versed in sculpting, have a crack at it yourself, put all your observations into making it the best piece you can do

Simply awesome, man. I would love to learn how to sculpt. I've never tried it. Might take some classes as this is certainly inspiring me.

Hey Jay, I think I speak for all those who have viewed this thread when I say, "PLEASE SHOW US YOUR SCULPTURES AND PAINT WORK, THINGS YOU HAVE MADE ALL BY YOURSELF FROM SCRATCH, SHOW US THAT YOU ARE TRUELY AN EXPERT". then and ONLY then would anyone here take you as anything other than someone with "issues". And if you have nothing to show, please stay off this thread.. I'm dead serious. much thanks.

Frosty, long story dude~ The short version is this piece is for a friend. I have no reason to take a crack at it, I've got access to the original~LOL

Bob,

First, No one needs to show you anything in order to comment on yours or anyone's work, and I've got no reason to ever to prove anything to you.

I've fixed so many of your sculpts over the years, that alone makes me an expert on you and your work. I can see the common flaws that are in every piece you've actually ever done. Hell you should be thanking me for how good I have been able to make some of your work look.

I have industry leading professionals and hobbyist to judge my work, and they do it frequently, keeps me grounded, growing and always having an open mind and eye to the possibility that I miss something, cause I miss stuff all the time, everyone does. Having someone willing to tell you that and help you thru to make sure every piece is everything it can be is priceless! If you had more respect for that, you wouldn't have blown all your opportunity's out here, with me and a bunch of other people who could have kept the commissions coming.

Secondly, I've never made the claims of expert and master that you have. You can't count the opinions of consumers as anything but smoke. LOVE IT, COOL< BEST EVER. None of those are real, but that doesn't stop you from building your ego around them now does it.

So if your going to ask for opinions, ask that they be honest ones and not just blown smoke.

Downside is you don't listen regardless, even to those that are commissioning you to do the work. You always think you know better cause your bob dullam~

You should be thanking me not offering pathetic threats to stay off your thread because you can't handle someone not saying how great you are~

So quit thinking that you speak for anyone else here and open your mind to the fact that your work leaves room for critiques, always has always will, mine yours everyone's
work has room for improvement.

Can't take it, then run away and hide under the desk

So, when your ready for reality and not the fantasy world you hide in
ask for someone of knowledge to give you a real assessment of this or any other piece, if they are worth their salt, they will say many of the same things that I have said to you over the past 8 years, especially when it comes to replicating originals.

In the meantime I'd still like to hear what you think you missed that we the dumb folk couldn't possibly have missed

To the rest of those who have viewed the thread and who bob thinks he can speak for

I apologize for you having to read anything I just wrote, just go back to looking at the pretty pictures and forget all about this little interruption~

Bats, ive no axe to grind anywhere but it seems you have personal issues with Bob? You do seem rather angry. More that Bob seems to be ignoring your criticism more than anything else. He's entitled to do that though.

Im not sure why it matters so much whether Bob fixes the flaws or doesnt fix the flaws. Its a sculpt. people will either like it and buy it or not.

As for the piece, I think its great, however I think the eyes let it down and it would look awsome with glass installed.

I also believe it would have been better to have applied a machined mask over a sculpt.

I do like the paintwork though!

bats, I don't mind critiques at all. but I do mind tacklesness, and just the overall arrogant and annoying vibe you give. And I do believe that most people feel that way. Still would like to see something you did from start to finish all by youself. Got anything? batsuit, tumbler? I don't care, creature suit perhaps? Just out of curiousity. I mean jeez someone with your expertise surely must have something done from start to finish. Please show this humble wannabe some greatness that you have done, and done alone, and I will be ever so aplogetic for ever having thought Ill of you..

also, this is my first time painting a full cauc. head. I am only using water colors, nothing expensive, no airbrush. second time hand painting eyes. Odd that I'm getting any compliments at all, but thanks much. I told Ryan I would give it a shot, but of course he can send it to someone else if he doesn't like it. Although having said that, I would caution him to sit on it for a while, because up close, it is just a resin piece, it's how it photographs in NORMAL light that counts. and turning lights off and using flash does not prove anything unfortunatly. shows you are trying make something look bad.
I mean, I do what I can with what limited resources and time I have. I am not privey to actual pieces, only recently really good photos have emerged. so...I dunno. I mean I could go back re-do the entire piece all over again trying to prove to everyone that I am the greatest, but at what? copying things with the naked eye by using photos? wouldn't it really be much more interesting seeing some original take on a familiar concept? I'm sure in months to come if not sooner 3-d files will be available, then what?
all these names Bats drops will charge 5K just for a copy of something they have already sculpted. time, time, time, and more time, is money...how much charity work do you wanna do???
