Hi Guys

I must say that I am very very impressed with the quality of the Bandai Kits. As I am currently doing a Hasbro Slave 1 Mod I looked at anything and everything related to that ship including tons and tons of pics from SW Identities and what have you. As far as I can see the 1/144 is the most correct model out there, it looks like they actually had direct access to the original ILM model if you ask me. Or they have some pretty hard core guys doing some serious research for screen accuracy.

In my opinion its even better then the 1/72 FM Slave 1, it took me a while to realize that but there it is. Unfortunately I am personally not so keen on the small scale model kits, I rather go studio scale or close to it, but never the less Bandai for sure is kickin some serious a..

Now I am too spoiled for anythiing else!

Revell, Airfix, Tamiya, NOTHING compares to the quality of a Bandai kit!!!

Having just bought some Revell and AMT kits I totally agree! I wish other companies made their kits with the quality and detail the likes of Bandai!

Don't you mean over priced? LOL $332.00?!? It's an awesome kit, but even if I HAD that kind of money to spend on a plastic model kit... I wouldn't. I wish it were cheaper, cause I love it.

Where are you getting that price from? I see 2332 yen which is 22 USD

I have to say that the Bandai kits are the best engineered Kits I have ever put together... They littlerally go together without glue the tolerances are so good. The details is crisp and plentiful, and the accuracy is darn good. sure you can nitpick them, but you really do have to try to find bad spots. The flipped 144 MF side panels aside...

I'm impressed.

The only dilemma I have with them is that you should base coat them in as-close-to-fully-assembled as you can. The parts fit so tightly that if you get any paint on tabs, they may not slot together very well.

But that's the best complaint ever

The flipped side walls on the Falcon were caused by Disney giving them an early CGI version of the ship. The continued to modify the mesh for the movie and corrected those 'shortcut' features.

My biggest frustration with the kit I am building, the TIE/SF is that there is a lot of great detail which is either covered up or hidden. Someone said some of the detail is either added of altered deliberately as a Bandai 'signature' against theft

I questioned that when a modeler on another website commented that he'd painted some of the parts on his R2-D2 kit prior to assembly. He said thin paint coats are definitely preferable, but that it didn't present much of a problem even with the tight tolerances on Bandai's kits.

I'm pretty thin with my stuff. My heaviest coat is the primer. The one I really had a hard time with was the atst

I just use liquid mask to cover the tabs and proceed with my normal painting procedure.

These kits are some of the best engineered on the market right now! I've been nervous over the past year that they would just vanish and disappear - so I've been scrambling to acquire as many as I can.

My kids love these too - I build the kits and they provide the doll house furniture!

The Han Solo in Carbonite standing up in the background (wish Bandai would include that as an accessory item) was a squeaky dog toy from Petsmart. The sizing worked out quite well.

The official comic adaptation of ANH had Vader using the force to float a cup of coffee to him- I guess all imperial headgear have retractable straws built in...

Yep was familiar with that - almost the exact same thing happened with the battlefront Falcon.

As for changing details - that is often done as a "tell" on models it usually pretty hard to find though.

IIRC the diecast replica sold through the Disney stores had the same mirrored sidewall issue- this one was caused by them recycling the CGI model used in the Star Tours Ride.

BTW- Disney's Star Destroyer replica is excellent!
