I use Tamiya AS-20 Insignia white straight from a spray can for a base coat (did not prime the model) and Weber Oderless Turpenoid to thin for my oil wash.
I did have a problem with the 1/72 X-wing
I suspect a combination of the Tamiya paint not really being true acrylic, but instead being more akin to a laquer along with the stress on the part and the combination of the oil/turpenoid
I've done a few bandai things, and have not run into a problem on those, but I was careful not to put too much wash on at on time as well as priming the model, or at least getting some primer in places where I thought the wash might get inside and pool.
