Bandai 1/48 Snowspeeder WIP

Hey guys, this is my first build-thread after a lot of lurking, so go easy on me, haha

My Bandai Snowspeeder arrived a few days ago, and, although I tried to resist it, in the end I pushed my Uni work aside for a while and decided to crack on. I've almost finished the construction, and pretty much completed the cockpit and pilots, who I painted up as Wedge and Janson. This was mainly due to the fact that Wedge Antilles is an absolute hero, and his red-orange stripes look a lot more interesting on a model than Luke's grey ones.

Anyway, here are some pics of the cockpit and pilots; I'd really appreciate any feedback you have to give.

Here's the progress so far; I know the studio models didn't have much panel-line-shading but I like the way it looks. I also think it's a little dark still, so I might have to go in with some more drybrushing and lighten the tone of the grey.

I love the patterns on the pilots helmets. I need to do more of that

The orange stripes look faded in just the right way and the rest of the weathering looks appropriate for its scale

As for the helmets, I love having the opportunity to do little things like that on a model, it adds a lot of personality. Back when I did Warhammer designing the heraldry symbols and stuff was my favourite part

Ok, final update

I went in a gave the whole thing a fair bit of blaster damage because, hey, it's Star Wars. As well as the battle damage, I did some final dry brushing and applied the decals.
As for the base, I gave it a coat of white paint, then a light-blue wash, and then drybrushed white over the wash to blend it all all together.

Overall I'm pretty happy with how the model turned out, it was fun and simple to build and paint. However, there are a couple of sections where I think I could tidy the paintjob up, which I may come back to in the future.
