Bad Seller Alert!! TOSPHASER

The amount doesn't mean a thing. It could have been 13 cents or 1300.00.

There is a huge difference between 13 cents and 1300. It is 1299.87 :angel

He got his money back and kept the prop...the deal was done and taken care of.

Plus, it was 13.00......You get what you paid for...

For all the talk of "community" around here, a well known, and high quality producing member was tossed under the bus pretty quickly.

Nobody is perfect you know.

Makes you wonder about all these "cyberfriends".

INHO, Bruce came forward, and was making good. Then was provoked.

I'll agree the threats of legal were bad, but to be accussed of recasting with no proof would **** me off too.

+1

I think he was speaking out of anger, and his threats to the website or the person was out of anger and I highly doubt he had it in him to follow through...Frustration and stress especially when you are jobless can be very difficult thing to handle

And FYI,

A fully cured resin part can weep resin over time and usually does if it's cheap resin and never primed or painted.

Is it just me, or is the picture that was "stolen" looks like what was given? To me it looks like a shotty cast to begin with. The only overall picture I saw was the washed out comparison. I would"ve still liked to have seen more proof of the recast claims.

edit: he posted a youtube vid of the suspected part. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wm5jRYICoyQ&feature=related
Can make your own decisions based on that.

p.s. micdavis hit my thoughts right on the money.

I'll agree there but also add...

Cost doesn't necessary play into the weeping as a defining point... I have had top dollar as well as generic house brand resins weep for no rhyme or reason on occasion... I know the first thought is that it's a mixing issue, but I have had it happen even after triple mixing and degassing... Not to say that mixing and resin cost isn't a contributing factor, it certainly can be but it's not the only reason...

Same with the 'marbling' you sometimes see in resin (especially if it's tinted) it's not necessarity a bad thing, I have had it again happen for no rhyme or reason... Using both top of the line and generic resins, I actually experience marbling quite often when I vacuum de-gas the resin prior to pouring and I find that certain molds seem to create marbling likely from the way the are poured for some reason...

Not to say either issue should be totally dismissed as it can point to issues, but it could also be a non-issue...

I have no stake in this or anything, but I just want to say that as a fairly new prop collector, these threads are important.

I've bought from a few of you now and it really is a matter of trust with who to buy from.

Thankfully, I haven't been ripped off yet and I hope I never will be, but closing the 'bad buyer/bad seller' threads so that they disappear seems to me to be a bad idea.

Every so often you get recasters on E-bay or wherever and without knowing the history of those people it becomes problematic. Those with experience can often instantly spot someone's 'tells' but for new buyers that is impossible.

I think that threads naming problematic traders should be archived somehow, or somewhere so that people can make an informed choice when choosing to buy.

For instance, in this thread, TOSPHASER sold a bad piece that the buyer was not satisfied with. He then appears to have tried to make it right, even though the buyer is not satisfied.

The actions of the two involved would certainly be of interest to future customers and locking or deleting a thread such as this would only harm things.

Of course, that is only my point of view as someone trying to find their way in this very complex forum and hobby with many strict rules and a lot of people who are set in their ways.

Well your momma don't live here.

Honestly can some of you people not get by on your own?

Do you really need the RPF to watch your ass?

How many "good upstanding" members have ended up flaking?

Bowjunkie
Jedi135
Houdiniguy

Just because you're here, doesn't make you safe.

Three, apparently.

What I am saying is that these threads shouldn't be locked or deleted. When I buy from someone I check back through their posts to see if they are a jerk or not. If they are, then I won't risk it. I can't do that if they're gone, can I momma?

Way to go mods. :rolleyes

A temporary ban would have more than adequate. Mediate this off the boards. Let people cool down. I guess that makes too much sense and shows you actually care for this hobby.

And if SLK does not PROVE his recasting claim, I think HE should be banned for making false accusations without proof. I have yet to see any.

Mic, again, read this thread. This is already covered.

A fully cured resin part can weep resin over time and usually does if it's cheap resin and never primed or painted.
It has large areas of unmixed resin creating soft spots on the surface(not to be confused with weeping oil) that would never dry if painted.
Another that was already covered.

Honestly if someone bugs out this much over $13, I'll pass on your patronage.
Yet another that was already covered...twice. How many does that make it for you now Mic? It has become a recognizable pattern in you. I don't think repeating questions is a mistake on your part but rather an effort to suspend doubt in what has been said.

... a well known,
A person who was in control of how people could continue to know him.

Lost me there. Others as well. However, in all fairness, I have seen nice work of his in the form of that chair he made.

He seemed to have supplied a lot of gas for that bus.

Never said he should be. I find this statement interesting in that it has a similar function to asking the same questions repeatedly. In this case you are imposing the idea (without base) that someone has set too lofty an expectation. Please indicate where someone has expected perfection.

It's funny how many here want to create a don't buy list.
I've been creating a no sell list.
Consider how many people had a similar problem with Bruce.
Consider how Bruce openly spoke to them here on this board.
Consider how Bruce posted that he decided he wasn't involved after he rounded up peoples money and sent them to a 3rd party.
Consider all the other things that he could have made a better choice on.
If you are openly stating that are willing to overlook all this then perhaps people should add you to their own lists.

(ItsThatGuy): Dude, he threatened legal action. Like him or not, it's against the rules. This isn't the Shire, dude. There are rules.

You never saw the messages from the seller. If you did, you'd be less likely to sum it so simply. If you saw what he sent me you would sing a different tune.

Yes, rules for an online community not North Korea. TOSPHASER was a long standing member, not some random noob from Jan 2010....Dude.

We've all read your (SLK) diatribes and requotings.

Where's the proof of recasting?

And PLENTY of folks here job out stuff to third parties (like a machinist or casting expert.) without any kind of notice.

Oh, I see. Any long standing member should be able to do the same with only a slap on the wrist. Rules are rules. We all agree to the rules of this forum to be a part of it...no? So the next time I'm driving and go over the speed limit and get pulled over/get a ticket, I guess I should just tell the officer, hey buddy, I've been driving along time without any tickets, and this isn't North Korea...

And BTW, it's random noob from January 2009, Dude:sleep
Oh....my:lol
