Back to the future 2015 NIKE's

Re: Back to the future 2015 NIKE's

Nike makes 350 of the fabled shoes. Kobe shoes them off.

Walk a Mile in McFly's Shoes

1989 was a big year. The Berlin Wall fell. The Exxon Valdez spilled its guts. And there were protests in China's Tiananmen Square. But those were just side attractions to the year's most memorable moment—the debut of Nike's "Air McFly" sneakers in "Back to the Future 2."
The film, which largely took place in the year 2015, introduced viewers to many a futuristic wonder, but none were so iconic as the light blue high-tops worn by Michael J. Fox. Ever since the film premiered, folks have been begging Nike to produce the shoes for the masses. Now, Nike has finally obliged... sort of.
The shoes were recently revealed at an event headlined by Kobe Bryant. Ever the showman, the hoopster even arrived in a DeLorean. Fans lined up way in advance, but according to Wired, many went home disappointed. Nike only made 350 pairs of the specially designed kicks, not nearly enough to satisfy the fans.
The shoes were released in a very limited quality, but for hardcore fans who were shut out, there's always the capitalist slaughterhouse that is eBay. Pairs are currently going for up to $1,000 (power laces not included). As Doc Brown would say, "Great Scott!"

Yeah they were talking about people camping out at the NYC nike store on the radio. I just checked the bay and pairs are selling for over $1000 I suppose you have the intersection of shoe collectors and BTTF collectors driving these shoes up.

Re: Back to the future 2015 NIKE's

Great pics on eBay of the actual prototype shoe made for the movie! A little different than the screen used pair, but good shots, nonetheless.

Re: Back to the future 2015 NIKE's

I picked a pair up for just less than 1k on ebay

I figure they may drop - but I like the look of them too much to risk not getting a size 11

There are some shoes going for close to 2k but not seen any sell at that.

Mostly 900-1600 or so it seems.

I was prepared to go to 1500 so I feel as though I got a bargain!!:lol

Ill wear them a little but mostly theyll sit with my light up prop shoes and Hovverboards.:cool

Re: Back to the future 2015 NIKE's

Apparently Nike patended these shoes back in 1990!?

http://www.neatorama.com/2007/08/09/the-mcfly-2015-patents/

Doesn't those patents last 15, 20 years?
Maybe the interested parties for the accurate replica should come together and buy those patents and develope an original RPF product... inculding the power laces.

I know, sounds crazy, but the only way I can think of getting things right.

What do you think?

BTW: there actually exist micro EL drive to drive the EL Sheets in the shoes - I gotta dig out the documents.

According to the PTO, the term for a design patent is 14 years.

"35 U.S.C. 173 Term of Design Patent

Patents for designs shall be granted for the term of fourteen years from the date of grant."

http://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/pac/design/laws.html

The date it was granted was February 25, 1992.

All that means, is that we could make shoes that look like that. We (obviously) cannot use the tradename Nike.

Probably run a legal risk anyway, now that Nike has announced & designed the new look-alikes.

Not that I would blow the whistle on a careful, quiet operation... :)

:lol You made me laugh about the last comment :thumbsup - seems like you try to pull off the biggest conspiracy ever devised on the RPF... :love

Operation "Firetrail"... so where is Deep Throat? And Mulder and Scully? *X-Files Theme sounding* :lol

PS: If Nike would have heard the collector's plea on the first hand, this conspiracy wouldn't start....

These are the only REAL option:

I own a pair of these and I gotta tell you, they are truly awesome. Professionally manufactured - not just made in some guy's garage.
They are not 100% accurate, but all the important details are there and they look even better in person. Plus, they fit me perfectly and are very comfortable.
You won't find a better replica pair of Nike Mag anywhere in the world.

Re: Back to the future 2015 NIKE's

I don't know if it's already been posted in this thread or not so sorry if if this is old info but Nike actually has come out with an official shoe that looks like the movie one. A week or two ago Kobe Bryant used helped hype up attention for the new Nike Hyperdunk. The shoe comes in two different styles at the least. Theres the regular version and the McFly 2015 version. The BTTF versions look close to the movie ones but are wearable for a daily shoe. They made a small quantity though so good luck getting a pair since they are going for big big bucks on ebay. Again, sorry if this has already been posted.

Re: Back to the future 2015 NIKE's

A little off topic, but I just ordered some of these. I didn't know why I liked them so much until I realized they remind me of Marty's shoes. Not even close, they just remind me of them.

Hey bro, I take it you make these, kudos man they look fantastic. Question, the clear rubber sole, I see its yellowish.. is there anyway to make it clear white?
